Job Description

The Catholic Diocese of Richmond is seeking a Director for the Jubilee Retreat and Conference Center in Abington VA.

The Director is responsible for developing and executing a proactive marketing strategy to attract and retain customers, ensuring the overall profitability and success of Jubilee House Retreat and Conference Center (JHRC). The Director will work closely with the JHRC Council, an ecumenical consultative body, to expand and enhance the services offered by the Center.

The Director of Jubilee House Retreat and Conference Center (JHRC) will provide visionary leadership and operational oversight to ensure the growth, sustainability, and mission alignment of JHRC. Collaborating with the JHRC Council and key stakeholders, the Director oversees all aspects of center management, including program development, customer engagement, financial stewardship, and facility operations. This role aims to create a welcoming and spiritually enriching environment that meets the diverse needs of the community while maintaining the highest standards of service and hospitality.

Responsibilities of Director:
1. Market Analysis & Promotion:
Analyze market trends to identify opportunities to promote Jubilee House (JH) as a top choice for conferences, meetings, retreats, and events.
Develop and implement strategies to highlight JH to local associations, clubs, and families.

2. Pricing & Fee Structure:
Create and maintain a competitive fee schedule as part of JH's reinvention efforts.

3. Marketing & Outreach:
Design and implement cost-effective marketing campaigns, including promotional brochures, mailers, and the JH website.
Build relationships with local organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce and Retail Merchants Association to expand visibility.

4. Customer Outreach:
Conduct appointments and cold calls to both existing and potential clients to promote JH's benefits.
Secure bookings and maintain JH's event schedule.

5. Progress Monitoring:
Track marketing goals and provide quarterly progress reports.

6. Customer Experience:
Ensure JH provides a comfortable, welcoming environment for all customers.

7. Consultation & Coordination:
As needed, consult with local pastors or diocesan office directors to identify and engage appropriate facilitators or spiritual leaders for events.

8. Financial Management:
Manage the operating budget, submit financial information as required, and prepare financial reports.
Oversee invoice payments and deposits.

9. Facility Maintenance:
Ensure that the JH building and grounds are well-maintained and properly lit.
Report and address any necessary improvements.

10. Supply Management:
Purchase supplies for JH, including cleaning, operating, and office supplies, as well as refreshments.

11. Event Setup & Physical Tasks:
Assist with physical tasks such as setting up meeting rooms, organizing lunch/dinner setups, and serving refreshments.
Perform gardening, maintenance, and housekeeping tasks as needed.

12. Customer Satisfaction:
Monitor customer satisfaction and adjust based on feedback to ensure an exceptional experience.

13.Staff Supervision:
Supervise staff and coordinate with independent contractors as approved by the pastor.

14. Other Duties:
Perform additional tasks as assigned, including exploring new revenue sources (e.g., distanced learning center).

Qualifications:
1. A bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing or Management, or related degree or its equivalent is required
2. Prior experience is running a hotel or retreat/conference facility is preferred.
3. Desirable qualities include strong customer service orientation, leadership and administrative abilities, marketing/sales abilities, collaboration skills, supervision skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and excellent computer skills
4. A practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred. Must have a working knowledge of the Catholic Church.
5. The ability to travel is required.

Working Conditions:
The position of Director is a full-time, exempt position. Evening and weekend meetings and events are necessary to fulfill the duties. Some travel may be required.
