POSITION SUMMARY:
The Arlington Catholic Herald (www.catholicherald.com) is the official newspaper of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Arlington and supports the Church's mission to evangelize by providing news from a Catholic perspective.
The Intern will support the Herald's work by undertaking and completing a variety of projects and assignments principally on behalf of the editorial staff.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
• Help the editorial staff increase efficiency and productivity by carrying out a range of initiatives, including:
Propose, write and edit content for CatholicHerald.com and/or the print edition of the newspaper
Write and edit content for Catholic Herald social media channels
Research and edit parish feature articles
Support the layout and production process for the print edition
Cover diocesan events as needed
• Assist the advertising and circulation departments occasionally as warranted
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• College student actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in journalism or a related field
• Strong writing, editing, and digital/social media skills
• Extraordinary attention to detail
• Previous experience working for a media publication preferred
• Must be a fully-initiated and practicing Catholic.
This is a paid internship.
