Job Description
St. Mark Fallston is looking to hire a missionary disciple for the role of Parish Administrator. The ideal candidate must know and offer his or her talent and charisms to enable the staff to serve God and the people of the parish more fruitfully. The candidate is strong in the charism of helps, assisting parish leaders by using his or her skills, talents and charisms to carry out the Kingdom mission to which God is calling them. He or she is driven by the mission and vision of St. Mark, which is to Know Jesus and Make Him Known as a spirit-led Catholic community that accompanies individuals and families on their faith journey to become missionary disciples. The hours are Monday-Friday, 9AM to 5PM.This candidate practices radical hospitality. He or she genuinely and warmly welcomes and cares for each person who enters the parish office by noticing and engaging especially newcomers and strangers. This candidate is fully and intentionally engaged in prayer, worship, and the sacramental life that flows from baptism and reverential participation in the Eucharist.
As a missionary disciple, the ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative tasks of the parish, ensuring smooth operations, providing support to the church staff and serving as a point of contact for church members and visitors, providing information and assistance as needed. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask. Tasks include scheduling, correspondence, record-keeping, and event planning. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem solver with a strong sense of discretion and the ability to handle sensitive information with care.
Essential Functions
Assist the pastor with Liturgy and Worship:
Ensures that everything is prepared for the celebration of the liturgy including intercessions, flowers, calendars, programs, schedules.
Assist the Director of Evangelization:
Ensures that everything is prepared for faith formation programs for children and adults.
Assist the Director of Youth Ministry:
Ensures that supplies are ordered for youth ministry and that all Confirmation paperwork is in order.
Assist the Director of Outreach:
Fields phone calls about holiday outreach and serve as the point of contact for bereavement luncheons.
Assist with Parish Operations:
Ensures the smooth running of the Parish Office including directing calls, greeting visitors
Preparing mailings
Logging in checks and cash
Producing the weekly bulletin
Position Qualifications
Commitment to the mission and values of the church, to include living a lifestyle consistent with Catholic teaching and attending mass and receiving the sacraments.
High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
Previous experience in an administrative role.
Strong people, written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Experience with database management and record-keeping.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a diverse group of people.
Detail-oriented and able to work independently.
Experience with event planning and coordination.
Familiarity with church operations and culture is a plus.
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Practicing Catholic preferred.
Minimum of 5 years' experience as administrative assistant or similar position.
