Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Catechesis is responsible for developing and managing faith-based initiatives that serve the Benedictine College Community, specifically through the OCIA Team and Love and Responsibility program, and for assisting the Chaplains in the leadership of the Chapel Team. The Coordinator of Catechesis will partner with key departments and groups across campus to grow these programs. The Coordinator of Catechesis will collaborate with the College Chaplain on all Liturgies and Sacraments and must take the Oath of Fidelity agreeing to be faithful to teach and train on the orthodox teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Assist Chaplain with the Coordination of Chapel Team
a. Assist the Chaplain in excellent execution of all Liturgies on campus.
i. Be in attendance at all Student Masses to coach student leaders.
ii. Train all students on the Chapel Team to be the Lead Sacristan at all Masses.
iii. Train student leaders to lead their peers in liturgical roles including EMHC, lector, usher, server, and sacristan.
b. Coordinate the logistics of major liturgical events on campus such as signature event Masses, processions, and consecrations in collaboration with the Chaplain.
c. Responsible for administrative work, events management details, and meeting with the student leadership team.
2. Lead OCIA Team and Program
a. Oversee and execute the OCIA program and curriculum
i. Develop the curriculum and have it approved by the Chaplain and Director.
ii. Teach in accord with our current practices on campus.
b. Lead the OCIA Student Team
i. Train students to give talks, lead small groups, and mentor candidates.
ii. Lead Ministry leaders to engage volunteers in the OCIA program.
iii. Collaborate with the Evangelization Team, FOCUS and SPO, and Athletic Coaches to reach out to and invite non-Catholic students to attend OCIA.
3. Lead the Love and Responsibility Team (L&R Team)
a. Continue the development for the L&R curriculum to:
i. Give an attractive account of the Gospel to students struggling with sexual identity, gender identity, and similar disorders
ii. Uphold the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church while charitably ministering to these students.
iii. To teach and train all Benedictine College Students to evangelize effectively to others who struggle with sexual identity confusion
b. Collaborate between all the different offices and support groups on campus to have an understanding of the resources available to students and ensure all groups are in line with our practices and procedures.
c. Coordinate speakers and events to encourage healthy dating relationships and chastity for all students.
