Job Description
Job Summary:All Campus Missionaries are under the direction of the pastor of St. Augustine's University Parish. Campus Missionaries help minister to University of Wisconsin-Platteville's college students, plan and direct programs and activities based on their own talents/gifts, guide students in their faith through mentorship/discipleship, and promote the mission, goals, and vision of St. Augustine's University Parish Campus Ministry. Campus Missionaries will work collaboratively with the pastor and a team of other Campus Missionary staff members, FOCUS Missionaries, and student leaders. Administrative roles for ministry are assigned to each Campus Missionary based on prayerful discernment of individual gifts and talents and needs of the ministry.
Campus Missionaries fundraise their salary and are fully trained to fundraise a livable wage.
Campus Missionary Job Responsibilities:
To foster evangelization of college students by developing authentic friendships with students, inviting students to find their place in the message of the Gospel, leading students into relationship with Jesus Christ, helping to form them in their faith and inspiring and equipping them to evangelize their peers.
To plan, conduct, and promote spiritual formation including catechesis on topics of our Catholic faith, prayer with students, and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
To promote participation in the sacraments specifically the Sacrifice of the Holy Mass and Reconciliation.
To design and execute outreach events for the larger UWP community to foster friendship and opportunities for pre-evangelization.
To be present and available to listen to and counsel students on spiritual, moral and personal issues and to direct them to appropriate resources/personnel as needed.
To plan, promote and direct men's/women's retreats twice yearly encouraging deep faith formation and virtuous community among students.
Model and encourage virtue for students especially emphasizing Chastity, Sobriety, and Excellence; virtues most desperately needed on college campuses.
To direct the UWP Catholic Newman Officers: to build them up in human, spiritual, intellectual, and apostolic formation, to form them as leaders in the Catholic Newman Community, to teach them how to vision for, plan, and execute large group events, to encourage and build up officers to achieve the mission and goals of the Catholic Newman Center as well as become well-rounded disciples of Christ.
To work collaboratively with all staff including FOCUS Missionary Team by supporting their ministries and building more effective outreach programs with them.
To be the liaison between Catholic campus ministry and UWP.
Must demonstrate the following abilities and principles:
Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church, with an active sacramental and liturgical life who faithfully lives Catholic teachings and morality.
Must have a profound love for the Trinity with a strong spiritual life motivated by knowledge of their identity as a son or daughter of God that leads to a desire to share their faith with others and go with them to a deeper, more personal, and intimate relationship with Christ.
Values and demonstrates strong leadership, organization, communication, and social skills based on virtue and love with the ability to model a well-lived life for others.
Ability to listen to others seeking to understand before being understood, to collaborate with them and to build a virtuous community.
Must be self-motivated, able to take initiative, and believe in the work they do and sacrifices they make to bring souls to Christ.
Must be flexible working evenings and weekends.

St. Augustine University Parish is a personal parish specifically aimed at ministering to the University of Wisconsin - Platteville students, faculty and staff, as opposed to a territorial parish which would serve a given geographical area.
