Purpose and Scope
This position is responsible for strengthening relationships, boldly growing engagement, and connecting people to the mission of the Diocese of Phoenix to Encounter the Living Christ. The Senior Engagement plays a pivotal role in cultivating and strengthening relationships with major donors and parishes on behalf of the Office of Mission Advancement.

Essential Job Functions

•Responsible for managing a portfolio between 140-160 constituents comprised of donors, pastors, parishes and catholic leaders with the objective to cultivate and steward relationships.
•Develop and implement strategies to connect people to the mission, showcasing the impact of the Diocese through storytelling and donor recognition programs
•Collaborate with the Mission Advancement Director of Engagement and Mission Advancement Director of Appeals to provide necessary support for all Diocesan appeals.
•Capture and document relationship activities, constituent affinity and other pertinent information in the donor database.
•Build strong, collaborative relationships with parish leadership on behalf of the Bishop, fostering open communication and support.
•Maintain current and accurate records of all constituents established by the Director of Engagement in accordance with best practice.
•Lead the solicitation of major gifts in support of the Diocese's appeals and strategic initiatives.
•Stay current on industry best practices in fundraising and donor engagement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with a diverse range of people.
•Experience in stewardship cultivation, including securing major gifts and ongoing donor engagement.
•Proven track record of cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with major donors and high-net-worth individuals.
•Demonstrate a respect for and sensitivity to the diverse cultures throughout the Diocese of Phoenix.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software (Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT a plus).
•Minimum 5 years of experience in development or a related field, with a focus on major donor engagement.
•Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
•Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
•Active practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church.
•Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (business administration, communications, non-profit management).
•Ability to articulate a clear understanding of the Catholic faith and to serve as a committed witness to its mission.
•Proven track record of success in cultivating and securing major gifts.
•Experience building strong relationships with donors and building trust.
•Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
•Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Work Environment
•This job operates in a professional office environment.
•This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
