Purpose and Scope
To support the Diocese of Phoenix in its mission of Encountering the Living Christ, this position work collaboratively with the bishop's office, as well as various ministries and individual parishes, by identifying and securing essential grant funding that supports the mission of the Diocese of Phoenix. This role is responsible for researching and identifying grant opportunities aligned with the Diocese's strategic goals, managing the grant application process, and ensuring successful grant reporting to maintain positive relationships with funders, ensuring that critical financial resources are available to support the spiritual and social needs of our community.

Essential Job Functions

•Research and identify potential grant funding opportunities aligned with the Diocese's mission and priorities. This includes staying informed of current grant funding trends and regulations.
•Develop and write compelling grant proposals that meet foundation and government funders' guidelines.
•Manage the grant application process from start to finish for the Diocese, ministries, and parishes, including deadlines, budgets, and required documentation.
•Oversee grant compliance requirements and reporting, ensuring all reports are submitted accurately and on time.
•Maintain strong relationships with grantors and program officers, fostering positive connections to secure future funding opportunities.
•Track grant awards and monitor grant expenditures, ensuring funds are used efficiently and according to grant restrictions.
•Prepare grant reports to funders and the Diocese, keeping all stakeholders informed of grant activities and outcomes.
•Assist ministries and parishes in identifying and applying for relevant grant funding. This may involve training, providing resources, and collaborating on proposals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
•The Catholic faith and mission of the Diocese of Phoenix.
•Federal, state, and local grant regulations and compliance procedures.
•Grant research methodologies and identification of relevant funding opportunities.
•Best practices in grant writing, proposal development, and budget justification.
•Non-profit financial management principles.
•Strong research and analytical skills to identify and assess potential grant opportunities aligned with the Diocese's strategic goals.
•Excellent writing and editing skills to craft compelling grant proposals that meet all application requirements.
•Proficiency in grant management software and online grant submission systems.
•Ability to manage multiple deadlines and complex grant applications simultaneously.
•Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with grantors and program officers and the different offices and ministries of the Diocese of Phoenix.
•Skilled negotiator to secure the most favorable funding terms for the Diocese.
•Effectively manage time and prioritize competing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
•Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
•Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
•Ability to travel as needed to attend grant workshops and meetings.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
•Adaptable and resourceful with the ability to learn new grant programs and regulations quickly.

Minimum Qualifications
•A strong understanding of the Catholic faith and its mission.
•Active, practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.
•Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Non-Profit Management, Grant Writing, or a related field.
•Minimum 3 years of experience in grant writing, research, and management.
•Prior experience securing grants from federal, state, or private foundations a strong plus.
•Strong research and analytical skills to identify and qualify for appropriate grant opportunities.
•Excellent writing and editing abilities to craft compelling grant proposals.
•Proficient in grant management software and databases.
•Experience with budget development and monitoring.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with grantors and internal stakeholders.
•Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
•Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Environment
•This job operates in a professional office environment.
•This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands
•This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
