Job Description
Saint Edward Retreat Center exists to provide people time and space to encounter Christ and His Church. Through hosted retreats and summer camps, our facility provides opportunities for self-reflection, wilderness adventures, and guiding mentors, which ignite the desire to share God's gifts as witnesses to the world.We are seeking an Executive Director to take our mission to the next level.

The Position
To further the mission of Saint Edward Retreat Center (SERC) and Camp Lolek through the development and management of Catholic retreats and summer camps. The director will also design and manage the missionary program, manage personnel, oversee budgets, assist with the capital campaign, oversee marketing, and lead outreach to Catholic schools in the area.
Essential Job Functions
1. Host Catholic retreats that meet the needs and interests of target populations and ensure program delivery in a safe and quality manner.
Provide excellent hospitality to each retreat group. Design and ensure delivery of programs and activities as needed for a positive retreat experience.
Implement a standardized process to welcome retreats, provide formal introductions, engage with retreatants during meals and activities, and dismiss retreat groups after a thorough inspection of the retreat spaces used.
Maintain a review process and analyze input from retreat leaders and attendees regarding the quality, safety, and experience of each hosted retreat.
Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies for staff, retreat groups, missionaries, and campers.
Maintain a safe environment for staff and retreatants.
Remain current with information on the developmental needs of youth.
2. Oversee the daily operation of Camp Lolek (the summer resident camp), including program staff, camper and staff supervision and safety, business operations, health care, and food service.
Manage the program director, programming staff, and facility staff during summer camp programming.
Oversee the business management functions of the summer camp, including financial record-keeping, office operations, camper paperwork, and merchandise.
Recruit campers, counselors, and directors for summer camp.
Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies for staff, retreat groups, missionaries, and campers.
Secure sufficient coverage in a health care staff and their implementation of the health care plan.
Work collaboratively with internal and external groups to ensure the enhancement of the camp's operation.
3. Design, develop, and implement the SERC Missionary Program.
Recruit, supervise, and minister to missionaries at SERC.
Develop and implement a missionary program that enhances their spiritual life while overseeing their missionary service to SERC.
4. Report and work with the Board of Directors.
Work with the board of directors to create and stay aligned with the mission, vision, and values.
Provide a monthly report to the board at meetings.
Work with the board and various committees to advance the mission of SERC.
5. Implement human resource management practices.
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate seasonal and year-round staff.
Create a positive, mission-centered Catholic culture among employees.
6. Oversee property development and maintenance needs.
Manage the facility staff to ensure stewardship of the property.
Conduct annual assessment of property and maintenance needs.
Assist in preparing a long-term property plan.
Assist in a forest management plan.
7. Oversee the management of the kitchen.
Manage the kitchen through a Food Service Manager and review of a food service program.
Ensure proper training and certification requirements are met by the kitchen staff.
Ensure excellent food quality and service.
8. Oversee financial management of Saint Edward Retreat Center.
Manage the office administrator, ensuring a full retreat calendar, timely invoicing and collections, and excellent communication between retreat groups and SERC.
Manage payroll, insurance, and contracts for retreats and summer camps.
Develop and monitor the budget for the retreat and camp operations.
Assist in the capital campaign.
9. Oversee the design of a marketing plan to increase and/or maintain retreat and camp attendance and usage.
Develop a marketing strategy that enhances the mission of SERC (newsletters, social media, and mail).
Oversee the systematic approach to database management for retreat groups, campers, families, alumni, and donors.
Prepare and analyze enrollment trends.
10. Maintain all SERC compliance.
Maintain Department of Health certifications.
Maintain ACA accreditation and membership.
Maintain all insurance coverage.
11. Build relationships with other Catholic organizations: FOCUS, NET Ministries, St. Vincent Paul, Santiago Retreat Center, and Catholic Charities. Build relationships with nearby Catholic schools and parishes.
Benefits
1. Meals provided when camp or retreats are in session - $375 monthly value
Additional Information
1. The director will have the option to rent housing next door to SERC. Meals are provided when retreats and camps are in session.
2. Hours will vary throughout the week because it is a residential retreat center and summer camp.
3. Employer will contribute up to $300 monthly towards health Insurance.
4. Employee-covered vision, dental, and supplemental insurance options are available.
