Job Description

Job Title: Director of Young Adult, College and High School Ministry
Reports to: Pastoral Associate for Ministry and Discipleship
FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt
Effective Date: July, 2025

Position Summary:
The Director of Young Adult, College and High School Ministry provides vision and coordination for the parish and school efforts in ministering to young adults, college, and high school students. This includes creating weekly opportunities for young adults, college, and high school students to encounter God, grow in faith, experience authentic community, and become intentional disciples of Jesus Christ.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
Foster a welcoming atmosphere in our parish through practicing radical hospitality
Be present on 1st and 3rd weekends of the month to engage the people, especially young people, at Masses
Present all new ministry ideas to the ministry team before implementing.
Vet all new ministries as a team to determine the correct ministry team liaison.
Collaborate with the ministry team on how to implement the three step discipleship process for our parish; to ENGAGE community, ENCOUNTER Christ, and TRANSFORM lives.

YOUTH MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinator for High School Youth Ministry
Primary role: Create, coordinate, oversee, and lead ministry/outreach to high school students and their families
Responsible for overseeing the Life Teen program every Sunday night from 7-9pm.
Responsible for promoting parish events that are available for high school students (i.e Encounter, Confession, Thursday night Mass, March for Life, Purpose Retreats, Sunday Off Campus experiences, XLT, etc.)
Recruit and form a core team of adult leaders that directly minister to high school teens
Reserved for adults who are a minimum 1 year removed from High School.
Responsible for the Sunday 6pm Life Teen mass planning and execution
Oversee the Usher teams and aim to be present before, during, and directly after 6pm Mass
Make sure the Family Center projector is turned on for Mass and off after Mass. Make sure all doors are locked at the end of the night and all lights are off.
Responsible for giving direction/providing resources to the Life Teen Band
Accountable for managing the Life Teen music minister
Responsible for music licensing and annual reporting
Responsible for coordinating the logistics for all youth ministry events(i.e. food, travel, setup/teardown, supplies, environment, tech/A.V., etc.)
Coordinate with the 4 dinner team leads for the life teen program.
Capable of hiring a technology assistant for Sunday nights on campus. Ability to stipend per event they are present for after approval of the Pastor and Business Manager.
Work alongside the March for Life Planning Team.
Works in collaboration with other youth ministers in the deanery to put on collaborative events (XLT's, community building, etc.)
Directs the fundraising efforts for all youth/college ministry trips
Summer Camp and High School Purpose Retreats.
Support and participate in the high school Purpose retreats in a way that benefits the team.
Foster involvement of young people in the life of the parish by being involved in parish activities and collaborating with event leaders to organize teen volunteers.
Having a marketing plan in place for the events of the year.
Reaching out to Catholic school students by visiting their schools a minimum of 2 times a school year.
Responsible for taking a group of teens to summer camp and being present at summer camp for its entirety.
Responsible for running a consistent schedule over the summer for high school youth to participate in i.e Bible Study, Open Gym, Small Group Activities, etc.
Have a plan to follow up with teens who are no longer coming to LifeTeen

Collaborate with the parish and school staff on parish programs, ministries, and planning related to young adult, college and high school student formation.
Be a resource person to parish and school staff on related issues.
Work in collaboration with the Director of Middle School and Campus Ministry on confirmation preparation and ministry planning, especially the experiential component of formation.

Coordinator for College Ministry
Create, coordinate, oversee, and form an adult core team to lead college ministry for the parish.
Work alongside college students within the parish to help implement them into various ministries and committees.
Run a biweekly ministry in the summers geared towards college students focused on building community, knowledge, and structure.

Coordinator for Young Adult Ministry
Implement, sustain and develop ministries to young adults.
Lead and engage a core team of people who help in this ministry.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Sit on the Parish Ministry Team and provide insight and vision
Supervise any stipended positions after approval from the Pastor and Business Manager.
Attends parish staff meetings and any other meetings deemed necessary by supervisor.
Schedules the pastor to be present for all necessary meetings/events under your supervision

Maintain skills and ongoing education through study, research, workshops, and seminars
A professional person with integrity and responsibility
Stay up to date on current trends in parish youth
Makes sure all volunteers are trained in and follow the Diocese of Toledo's Protecting Youth Policies.
Leads a life that is tethered to personal prayer and frequent reception of the Sacraments.

Education and Experience:
B.A. in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or related field, knowledge of Catholic teachings, catechesis, and documents on youth ministry. The ideal candidate will have experience in ministry to Middle School and High School students.

Language Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in composing reports, correspondence, and letters and publishing e-newsletters and flyers; ability to read and understand church documents and guidelines.

Computational Skills:
Ability to read, prepare, and manage budgets for significant events and programs; prepare an annual budget for youth and college ministry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve problems, make sound decisions, and deal with a variety of variables.

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in ProPresenter, Flocknote, Google Platform, Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and all social media apps that parents and students use).

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to transport materials and equipment (up to 30 pounds) to and from various locations. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, use hands in repetitive motion tasks, handle objects, talk and hear.

Working Conditions:
The employee must be physically present in the office to complete office tasks (but should expect to work most weekends and many evenings), be available to work outside of regular business hours as required, and check-in with and provide a calendar to the administrative assistant. The employee must be able to work cooperatively with other members of the staff and with youth leaders and volunteers. The employee must be able to multitask.

Other Requirements:
The employee must have knowledge of Church structure and culture and be an active and practicing Catholic living by the teachings of the Church. The employee must know current youth culture and current trends and issues within those cultures. Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality.
