Job Description
Coordinator of Respect Life MinistryFull or Part-time/ In person/Office of Evangelization
Bilingual-English/Spanish
Bachelor's Degree Required
The Respect Life Coordinator will focus on life and social justice issues using Catholic Social Teaching as a guide. The Coordinator will promote respect for the dignity of each individual person, from conception through natural death, by focusing on ethical issues including:
Abortion
Adoption
Bioethics
Elimination of human trafficking and exploitation of minors
Euthanasia/ responsible pain management until natural death
Incarceration reform
Racial justice and equity
Treatment of undocumented migrants
This position requires a person who is well organized, has good communication skills, is self-motivated, and works well in a team environment.
The Coordinator will
•Create events and training opportunities to equip parishes to build a culture of life in their community in English and Spanish
•Coordinate annual Local and National March for Life
•Coordinate yearly Respect Life Convocation
•Develop USCCB Walking with Moms in Need initiative
•Establish relationships with respect life social services; (especially Catholic Charities in our diocese) that can help moms in need and encourage parish representatives to develop a relationship with these services
•Provide diocesan leadership with timely research and information on public policy issues
•Network with other diocesan Respect Life leaders and the New Jersey Conference of Catholic Bishops
•Coordinate and oversee Project Rachel offerings with Archdiocese of Newark
•Manage Respect Life contact database
•Create and maintain brochures, webpage, and social media posts that clearly identify and make available social services and respect life programs
•Work towards the formation of a diverse Diocesan Respect Life Committee, with members from a variety of fields and professional disciplines, to envision, inspire, energize, and guide the building of a diocesan culture of life
•Cooperate and support initiatives with other Office of Evangelization departments
