Job Description

The role of the campus minister will offer opportunities for the spiritual growth and empowerment of young women. The campus minister will work collaboratively with the Theology Department to ensure that the mission and SHA's Catholic identity are integrated into all aspects of the life of the School. The campus minister will also work with the administration, faculty, club moderators and other high school campus ministers in the Diocese of Rockville Centre so that SHA is offering comparable and excellent opportunities and programs. In addition, the campus minister will connect with the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph (CSJ) and colleagues in the three other CSJ sponsored schools (Fontbonne Hall Academy, The Mary Louis Academy and Academia Maria Reina) to align with the CSJ community.

Position duties
• Promote ministry leadership skills in students so they learn to lead with compassion, courage and commitment
• Organize annual retreat opportunities for grade levels, as well as additional summer retreat and service opportunities for interested students
• Participate in Orientation Days for new students which includes a retreat morning
• Plan for and engage students in the preparation of Eucharistic Liturgies for the School community, including holy days of obligation, special celebrations and alumnae reunions.
• Arrange for opportunities for the sacrament of Reconciliation
• Plan for and engage students in daily prayer: morning, lunch and end of day.
• Create meaningful service opportunities for students throughout the year, including weekend and after school opportunities.
• Ensure proper training for Eucharistic ministers
• Oversee coordination of student participation in Faith Formation programs in local parishes as a way to enrich and live their own faith and the faith of others
• Participate in diocesan programs offered for youth
• Participate in the Faculty Mission Committee
• Moderate the CSJ Student Leaders Club

Required Qualifications
• Master's degree required, or in progress.
• Strong relational skills and mature judgment skills for relating to teenagers.
• Understanding and commitment to SHA's mission and alignment with SHA's Catholic identity
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
