POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Disciple Formation, the Coordinator of Family Faith Formation assists with the implementation of discipleship-based programming and coordinates all administrative tasks necessary to ensure a smooth-running Family Faith Formation program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be a fully initiated and practicing Catholic, able to participate in the full sacramental life of the Church with a commitment to growing consistently in her/his faith life.
• Has a general understanding of evangelization, discipleship, and catechesis, with the ability to articulate and give witness to the Catholic faith in a charitable and compelling manner.
• Is sensitive to controversial issues and able to respond in accordance with Church teaching.
• Is an active listener with the ability to work collaboratively, foster teamwork, and address conflict in real time and maintain confidentiality in all situations.
• Must have the ability to apply critical thinking to solve problems.
• Must be able to articulate ideas concisely, both oral and written, in a clear, professional, and respectful manner with adults and children alike.
• Must have strong coordination and organizational skills.
• Must be able to create basic documents, spreadsheets, and presentations using the Microsoft Office software suite.
• Spanish fluency preferred.

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• At least one year's catechetical experience, or equivalent.
• Proven clerical and administrative skills
• At least 3 years of successful clerical work, or equivalent
• Experience recruiting and managing volunteers.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Collaborates with the Director of Disciple Formation to implement all resources for Family Faith Formation in accordance with Diocesan guidelines ensuring that programming incorporates the family as an essential agent in the faith formation process and is integrated with the larger life of the church, including liturgical celebrations, sacraments, fellowship, service, and outreach.
• Implements and oversees the Faith Formation registration and related processes including organizing/assigning classes and following up with families as needed to ensure compliance with the Parish and Diocesan policies for attendance, homework and other issues.
• Prior to Family Faith Formation sessions, ensures that all meeting rooms are unlocked, needed supplies are well stocked, and furnishings and equipment is in good working order; and at the end of each session, all rooms are in good order and secure.
• Assists the Director of Disciple Formation in recruiting, managing, supporting, guiding, and evaluating volunteer Family Faith Formation Small Group Facilitators and Lead Small Group Facilitators.
• Assists the Director of Disciple Formation in ensuring that all ministry volunteers and staff who have contact with children and youth are fully compliant with Diocesan guidelines for Child and Youth Protection through Virtus training.
• Supports the Director of Disciple Formation with the logistics of workshops, courses, and retreats; helps recruit speakers, and secure venues.
• Coordinates the scheduling of liturgies, events, activities, and programs under the purview of the Director of Disciple Formation with the parish Office and Facilities Managers.
• Works with the Coordinator of Liturgy and Sacrament Preparation to support sacrament preparation programs for Baptism, Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
• In collaboration with the Director of Disciple Formation, oversees the planning and implementation of Vacation Bible School (VBS) including the registration in Planning Center, collection of resources, reservation of facilities, and recruitment of teen/adult leaders who comply with the Diocesan requirements.
• Assists Director of Disciple Formation with organizing and maintaining accurate financial records for registration fees, sacramental fees, donations and all expenditures; and in developing and managing the annual Family Faith Formation budget, i.e. monitors the purchasing, storage, and distribution of resources and the reviewing of invoices.
• Completes all clerical duties for the Family Faith Formation program including copying, filing, mailing/emailing, answering inquiries about the program and maintaining information in the ParishSoft database.
• Assists the Director of Disciple Formation in collaborating with the Communications Manager to ensure the parish vision of discipleship is maintained throughout all parish messages and communications (marketing, website, bulletin, and social media).
• Assists with parish office administrative functions as needed, including answering the phone and greeting office visitors.
• Participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings, retreats and other relevant parish meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY:

• Given wide latitude to perform job duties under the supervision of the Director of Disciple Formation.
• Must coordinate regularly with fellow staff and volunteers, including the Coordinator of Liturgy and Sacrament Preparation, and Family Faith Formation Lead and Small Group Facilitators

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• While performing the duties of this job, required to have ordinary ambulatory skills; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weight of 10 - 50 pounds
• Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read
• Frequently required to sit, listen, talk and use repetitive motion of the hands/wrists
• Work performed in and out of the office setting
• Regular evening and weekend work is required
• Periodic travel is required
• Must be adaptable to change and able to work in a flexible environment
