Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAs a representative of the pastor, the Director of Faith Formation (DFF) implements the parish Faith Formation. The DFF manages program content, staff, and works with the Finance and Operations Director on faith formation budgets.
Lead all Faith Formation Coordinators and administration in day-to-day activities.
• Plan and lead regular staff meetings of the faith formation team.
• Implement a vision for St. Matthew Faith Formation with a focus on forming families of faith.
• Coordinate efforts of the Faith Formation team members.
• Set standards for teaching and attendance.
• Be visible at all major Faith Formation functions across the parish.
• Recruit, support and train volunteers, aides, greeters, and other volunteers in all areas of faith formation.
Planning
• Plan the next Faith Formation school year calendar. Plan detailed class scheduling, after meeting and discussion with Faith Formation team members and the pastor. Place all items on the Parish Google calendar being mindful of conflicts.
• Brainstorm ideas concerning program continued improvement and development, both immediate and in the longer term.
• Review and determine curriculum for all grade levels, obtaining feedback from team members.
• Ensure compliance with all child safety protocols by all volunteers and participants.
Communicate with Pastor and Director of Finance and Operations
• Report to pastor on issues and concerns (including potential issues and concerns) for the Faith Formation program or its leadership.
• Bring to the table new and trending Faith Formation ideas and events.
• Actively participate in the hiring and review process of employees in conjunction with the pastor and the Director of Finance and Operations.
• Ensure that SMEFF is in compliance with all sacramental, catechetical and RCAB guidelines.
Order of Christian Initiation for Adults
• Oversee and/or lead the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults. Work closely with person preparing candidates in areas of planning and coordinating.
• Oversee the planning and preparation of delegates for the sacraments.
• Oversee or coordinate all sacraments, including the OCIA rites, including the trip to the Cathedral for candidates.
Vacation Bible School
• Research, discern, and ordering of curricula. Working with SME Finance and Operations Manager use FF budget, discern other materials needed.
• Facilitate and communicate all VBS dates including VBS week, counselor training, minster meetings. etc.
• Communicate and coordinate with clergy, YFF, and parish staff regarding VBS.
• Invite, recruit, train, and support ministers and other assistants.
• Coordinate with Facilities Manager for site set up. Coordinate with SME staff for Church and SME Parish Center needs.
• Implement and maintain safety protocol.
• Invite, recruit, train, and support counselor team.
• Resolve issues as needed.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
• Supervise and evaluate Faith Formation staff and volunteers.
• Regularly submit text for Weekly Bulletin and website with SMEFF activities, as needed.
• Suggest new processes and procedures to promote office efficiency.
• Attend and provide updates at pastoral staff meetings.
• Support the team as needed with Constant Contact and Signup Genius assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, ParishSOFT, and Google Calendar.
• Communicate with families using a variety of electronic means (email, website, etc.) Comfortable with Word, Excel, Power Point, and Microsoft Outlook. Familiar with technology such as projectors, microphones, and more.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Collaborate effectively with parents and youth. Maintain the highest standards of conduct, confidentiality, integrity and be able to work well with others.
• Compliant with all necessary and required background checks and VIRTUS.
