Job Description
The Finance Department of the Diocese of Rockville Centre is currently seeking a Full-Time Staff Accountant to work in the Finance Department on-site and remotely Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Assistant Controller and will be an organized and detail-oriented professional. Strong MS Excel and Word skills are required, as well as the ability to balance multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines.Primary Responsibilities:
•Prepare various balance sheet account analyses for assigned areas, monthly, including but not limited to bank reconciliations, fixed assets, prepaid assets, accruals, and other liabilities.
•Assist team with the month-end close, which includes recording a variety of journal entries throughout the month.
•Fixed asset reporting including maintenance of fixed asset ledger, placing assets into service, retiring assets, and calculating/recording depreciation.
•Assist with intercompany reconciliations and preparation of related intercompany transfer documentation.
•Assist with cash management functions including inputting balances for electronic transfers.
•Assist with the preparation of year-end schedules to support annual financial statements and external audits.
•Assist with accounts payable processing, including review of payment submission coding, reconciliation of weekly payment reports, and selection of invoices to pay.
•Perform special projects and ad hoc analyses, as needed.
Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in accounting.
•1-3 years accounting experience. Experience with nonprofit organizations a plus.
•Proficiency working with computers/technology; strong knowledge of Excel and Word required. General ledger systems experience a plus.
•Ability to work on-site and remotely.
•Attention to detail and accuracy.
•Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
Salary:
•$70,000 - $80,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
