St. Columbkille Parish
The St. Columbkille Parish is accepting applications for the position of Director of Finance.

POSITION: Director of Finance of Parish and School
PARISH: St. Columbkille, established 1956 - 3,000 Registered Families
SCHOOL: Preschool & PK-8, 354 students, 30 teachers, 10 intervention specialists.
SALARY: Competitive Benefits package (Salaried exempt position) 40 hrs. per week.

QUALIFICATIONS: Practicing Catholic. Commitment to the mission, ministry, values and faith traditions of St. Columbkille and the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management or Finance or equivalent accounting degree. Prefer five years of progressively responsible business and supervisory experience. Ability to create budgets and financial reports
Must be proficient in computer spreadsheets and other applications. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Good health and good attendance record. Able to present information to individuals, small groups and large groups in a clear and compelling manner. Able to interact well with other people, but also able to work independently. Able to work successfully with staff, parents, and parishioners as needed.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Finance is an administrator supporting the Pastor's administrative responsibilities to the parish, which includes the church, school and all associated ministries. The Director of Finance is a steward of the financial resources of the parish and has fiduciary responsibility for these areas. In collaboration with the Parish Pastoral Council, Parish Finance Council, the School Principal, and the Chief of Operations (COO) ensures the parish business practices align with the Mission, Vision and Core Values of the parish.
Reports to the Chief of Operations (COO - Jim Presot)
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBLITIES:
A demonstrated competence in technology software and communications, all Microsoft Office products, accounting packages, payroll systems and database programs. Experience with ACS Financial Systems a plus.
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and fund accounting, including internal controls
Participate in weekly staff meetings, runs finance council meetings. Also attends occasional parish council meetings and other meetings or committees that are pertinent to the financial operation of the Parish and School
Direct supervision of School Tuition Bookkeeper, and indirect supervision of other Parish and School staff as needed
Ability to troubleshoot technology issues independently or with Parish's technology consultant
Work with senior level staff to prepare annual budgets. Monitor actual monthly budget performance, keeping the Pastor and Councils informed of the financial position of the Parish
Provides leadership in the development, management and accounting of the parish and school budgets and appropriation processes in areas of assigned responsibility.
Review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and financial statements, including journal entries and reconciliations. Monitor general ledgers for all funds
Liaison to Diocesan administrative and financial offices, including employee benefits, personnel, legal and facility services
Works with Stewardship Director in fund raising events, pledge drives and offertory collections in accordance to Diocesan policies and procedures
Follows procedures for procurement of goods and services
Assist all fiscal auditors and coordinate auditing services and activities
Manage all banking and investment activities. Oversee the money counters- collection, counting and deposit procedures.
Prepares weekly collection reports for the parish bulletin.
Prepares year end mailings of parishioner contribution statements.
Administer all payroll functions including onboarding and payroll processing
Administer parish employee benefit programs and other related personnel requirements in compliance with Diocesan policies and regulations in accordance with Federal, State and Local law.
Maintains records as required by law and the parish/diocese.
Meets the professional expectations of attendance, suitable attire and decorum.
Meets with the Pastor and COO as requested.
Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated initiative and enthusiasm for pro-active planning for future demands and for strategic stewardship of the parish/school resources.
Assists with special projects.
Works directly with the Development Director and assists in both the fundraising/booster organizations for budgeting and documentation of revenue and expenses.

About the Employer

We are a large Catholic Parish community located on Broadview Road in Parma within the Diocese of Cleveland Ohio. With approximately 3500 families, a school with nearly 350 students kindergarten through grade eight, we have between 8000 and 9000 people who are registered at the parish. The parish has a new young pastor who is excited about forming disciples of Jesus Christ for the new evangelization.
