Job Description

Purpose: Help children and their parents encounter Jesus Christ and grow in their knowledge and practice of their Catholic faith.

This position is responsible for religious education for Pre-K through 5th grade including RCIC (sacrament prep).
Responsibilities include:
Design catechetical programs that support lifelong practice of the faith.
Recruit, train, supervise, form and evaluate Catechists and Volunteers.
Plan and lead preparation programs for the sacraments (Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation).
Plan Sacrament Year Retreats.
Coordinate Summer Program for elementary age students.
Coordinate Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
Assure that Catechists have opportunities to grow in their faith and fulfill their Archdiocesan certification.
Prepare and monitor program budget.
Implement the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program.
Attend weekly staff meetings.
Lead parish activities such as: May Crowning, Easter Egg Hunt, Nativity Play, Children's Stations of the Cross, Lenten dinner.
Pursue continued professional and spiritual growth.

Qualifications for Success:
Must be actively practicing the Catholic faith and in good standing with the Church and have love and knowledge of their faith and desire to serve our families.
Experience as a Catechist preferred.
Ability to work with a diverse range of children and adults.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and work with minimal supervision.
Proficient computer skills including data entry, spreadsheets, and correspondence.
Willingness to work within existing Rel. Education structures while also being open to and helping facilitate continuous growth and improvement.
