Job Description

The Diocese of San Jose is seeking a creative and experienced videographer/content producer passionate about storytelling through video. In this position, you will collaborate with colleagues to create, update, and manage high-quality and engaging video content that will be published on numerous digital channels to highlight the mission and ministry of the Diocese. As the creative force behind our visual content, this role involves more than just filming and editing events, bishop's messages, and interviews. We're looking for someone who can bring fresh and inspirational ideas to the table, whether it's a message from the bishop or an innovative campaign.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Create Compelling Content: Produce visually stunning videos that communicate God's mighty work through our ministries.
Regular Production: Consistently deliver high-quality videos, including testimony stories, bishop's messages, and promotional content, balancing shooting and editing schedules to meet deadlines
Innovative Storytelling: Plan and brainstorm new videos and captivating story ideas that attract and engage viewers.
Interviews and Filming: Conduct and film interviews that add depth and authenticity to our content.
Departmental Collaboration: Work with ministry and department leaders to create content that supports and enhances their programs.
Project Management: Oversee the entire video production process from scheduling to publication.
Strategic Distribution: Collaborate with colleagues to ensure videos reach the right audiences across various platforms.
Short Copywriting: Write engaging copy for websites, emails, social media, and more.
Graphic Production: Design eye-catching graphics for video thumbnails and social media posts.
YouTube Management: Keep our YouTube channel vibrant and growing with a consistent upload schedule.
Live Streaming: Ensure smooth live streaming of episcopal and diocesan events.
Vendor Coordination: Work with external vendors for larger-scale productions and manage related contracts and schedules.
Video Archive Maintenance: Organize and maintain our video archive for easy access and use by all departments.
Equipment Management: Keep video equipment in top condition and handle any necessary repairs or replacements.
Social Media Assistance: Support the Diocese's social media presence with compelling video content that reaches and engages larger audiences.
EDUCATION:

A bachelor's degree in communications, film & media studies, video production, or a similar field is preferred, supported by knowledge and experience in video development and content creation.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Experience: Minimum of one to three years in video production, creating 16 9 videos for YouTube, Facebook, and more, as well as vertical 9 16 content for Instagram, TikTok, and other social media.
Versatility: Ability to capture diverse subject matter, from people and events to nature and action sports.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using video production equipment, including lighting and audio, both in-studio and on location. Proficient with video editing software.
Creative Direction: Confident in directing shoots, guiding talent, and ensuring high-quality output.
Advanced Techniques: Experience with multi-camera recording, green screen, drones, and motion graphic design is a plus.
Digital Content Management: Familiar with content management systems and digital distribution.
Communication Skills: Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills.
Graphic Design: Experience with Photoshop and Illustrator for creating video thumbnails and social media posts.
Social Media Savvy: Proficiency with platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Self-motivation: A self-starter who is detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and meet project deadlines.
Project Management: Excellent time and project management skills.
Knowledge of the Catholic Church: Understanding and appreciation of the Catholic faith and community.
Driver's License: Valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout Santa Clara County.
Spanish Fluency: Highly desirable but not required.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000 per year based on education and experience.
