POSITION INFORMATION: The Catholic Religious Education Coordinator works in conjunction with the Catholic Chaplain and shall be responsible for the overall management, logistical support, and program events/activities for the Catholic Religious Education ministries, Sacramental Preparation, and Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) at Hurlburt Field, Florida. The coordinator shall perform an average of 25 hours per week. Scheduled changes shall be worked in conjunction with the Catholic Chaplain; and the Catholic Community must be informed of the new hours of operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be responsible for general coordination and enhancement of religious education programs and events. This position requires the coordinator to have or acquire catechism prior to exercising their duties. Shall include religious education program/event administrative and logistical coordination, and any program development elements to provide respectable religious education experiences. Is responsible for the complete end product or service.
Be required to coordinate activities with the individual(s) responsible for other programs and events, such as and not limited to; chapel staff, parish members, and volunteers.
Assist in planning, resourcing, and executing the annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) with the Protestant Parish. An after action report, per local guidance, shall be required upon completion of the event and submitted to the Wing Chaplain.
Identify and align administrative and logistical support for all Catholic religious education ministry needs based on: Annual Ministry Plan requirements, local Chaplain Corps Team resourcing and programming, and Catholic Chaplains requirements to meet the needs of Chapel parishioners and customers. This must be done in accordance with local policy and procedures.

Catholic Youth of the Chapel (CYOC)
Catholic Single Adult Ministries

Other Catholic Parish programs/events requiring religious education
REQUIREMENTS:
Conflict of Interest. Coordinators shall not be any person who is an employee of the Department of the Air Force, either military or civilian, unless such person seeks and receives approval in accordance with Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 5500.7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation.
All Coordinators shall have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to efficiently plan and organize, communicate, and manage diverse program requirements.
All Coordinators shall read/comprehend, write, and speak English fluently in order to fulfill their Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements.
All Coordinators must have a High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Certificate, or compulsory education equivalency.
All Coordinators shall have the ability and willingness to provide services in an ecumenical and pluralistic environment and a willingness to adapt themselves to the direction/vision of the Wing Chaplain.
All Coordinators fulfilling a faith-group specific position (i.e. Catholic, Protestant), with the exception of musicians, must be or become practicing members at Hurlburt Field of the respective faith-group associated with the position.
All Religious Education (RE) Coordinators shall have practical experience (two or more years preferred) leading RE and must show proficiency in leadership and management practices in a parish setting and a working knowledge of RE resources and terminology.
All Coordinators shall furnish a resume and/or references validating education and experience requirements.
All Coordinators shall furnish and/or provide their own transportation to and from the place of employment.
All RE coordinators that are filling a position for the Catholic community shall conform to all Catholic Church Teachings, Archdiocese of Military Service (AMS) Policies (i.e. baptized and confirmed Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church. If married, the marriage must be a Sacramental marriage properly documented by the Church), the Liturgical Renewal of the Second Vatican Council and subsequent norms, and practices approved by the American National Conference of Catholic Bishops as given in the National Catechetical Directory, Sharing the Light of Faith, and Air Force Chaplain Corps policies and guidance. A statement of one's Sacramental records shall be provided along with other applicable documents to verify records.
