Job Description
Seeking Bookkeeper (part-time):We are seeking a part-time bookkeeper in the office. This position will include performing monthly reconciliations, monitoring budgets, creating reports for the pastor as needed and quarterly finance council meetings, assist donors with creating online giving account when needed, and some other basic office duties.
Skills we are seeking are someone who has/is:
- 3 years of bookkeeping experience (preferred).
- Familiarity/proficiency with Intuit Quick Books (preferred).
- Proficiency with creating excel spreadsheets and reports.
- Basic phone and computer skills (typing, emailing, Microsoft Office).
- Organized and good time management skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Catholic (preferred).
The Bookkeeper position is a specialized position responsible for the prudent stewardship and effective administration of the financial resources of Our Lady of Mount Carmel & Our Lady of Perpetual Help parishes in St Francisville, LA. The Bookkeeper works with office staff producing accurate financial statements, executing best practices for internal controls, analysis of financial data and implementation of financial guidelines and procedures established in the Diocese of Baton Rouge Parish Administrative Manual.
Essential Job Functions:
Record weekly collections, ancillary income and other cash receipts in Quickbooks
Process payments to vendors; maintain vendor files
Prepare reconciliations as necessary
Assist in preparing financial reports monthly for pastoral council meetings
Assist in preparing budgets for review, approval and monthly maintenance
Issuing contribution statements annually to OLMC & OLPH parishioners
Ensure existence of verifiable audit trail for all financial transactions
Implement best practices as delegated by Supervisor
Required Competencies:
Practicing Catholic preferred.
Demonstrated understanding, respect and support of the Catholic Church's teaching, mission and values
Thorough knowledge of the principals and practices of accounting and financial reporting including federal, state and local laws
Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently, including developing and maintaining effective recordkeeping systems.
Excellent communication skills
Team-oriented personality who can also work independently
Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Required Education & Experience:
Associate's degree in Accounting or its equivalent with five or more years' work experience

Must be a person of faith, committed to the values of the Gospel and the Catholic Church, who provides sound leadership and responsible management of their duties.
Has a "Service Mindset" when working with others
Ability to identify opportunities for improvement, evaluate issues and situations and propose and implement recommendations and solutions.
Proficiency in QuickBooks, CHMS, Microsoft Office, google shared files & calendar, day force payroll system
