Job Description
PurposeIn alignment with the 2019 Chapter Mandate, which calls the Community to "work with passion for justice, peace, and the integrity of creation," the USA-Haiti Province of the Religious of Jesus and Mary seeks an Executive Director to actualize their vision for the Bethany campus in Highland Mills, New York.
The vision is to
transform Bethany into an exemplary center for integral ecological education.
This pivotal role is established to ensure the sustainability and generativity of the RJM mission. The Provincial Leadership Team has identified the need for innovative structures, creative programming, and robust community partnerships to realize this vision of exceptional integral ecological education into the future. The Executive Director will play a critical role in unifying this vision and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the campus including the activities of Thevenet Montessori School and the Care for Creation at Bethany committee.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Executive Director will be an entrepreneurial leader and exceptional community-builder, responsible for the strategic oversight and coordination of resources and initiatives necessary to implement the vision. This includes:
• Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to advance the mission of RJM and the vision of the Bethany Campus, working in close collaboration with the Leadership Team and consultative bodies to implement strategic initiatives and foster community partnerships.
• Operational Oversight and Liaison: Ensure the effective and collaborative functioning of personnel and resources across existing ministries on the campus. Serve as the primary liaison among campus ministries and the Provincial Leadership Team, facilitating communication and coordination.
• Mission Formation: Promote and provide education and formation to those involved in carrying out the mission, ensuring alignment with the vision on the campus.
• Strategic Visioning and Implementation: Coordinate processes for strategic visioning, decision-making, and implementation of initiatives within the parameters set by the Provincial Leadership Team including, but not limited to, ecology, education, advocacy, and justice, responsive to the signs of the times in the spirit of RJM.
• Partnership Development: Identify and cultivate relationships and partnerships with organizations and individuals to support the mission.
• Resource Advocacy: Advocate for the necessary resources to promote and sustain the vision.
• Accountability and Metrics: Develop and implement metrics to measure mission effectiveness and ensure accountability.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS
The ideal candidate will embody the following qualities:

• Innovative Leadership: Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to manage ambiguity and lead through change.
• Collaborative Spirit: Strong skills in building and nurturing relationships within the campus community and beyond.
• Communication Excellence: Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
• Proven leadership experience in mission-based ecological, human service, or educational organizations.
• Demonstrated success in leading organizational-level change management processes.
• Background in environmental stewardship initiatives; knowledge of Laudato Si is a plus.
• Understanding of Catholic Social Teaching.
• Awareness of trends in education and/or Montessori education.
• A Master's degree is preferred; a Bachelor's degree with significant life experience is acceptable.
