Job Description

The Senior Accountant leads the operational accounting duties for the Finance Office. Responsibilities are to oversee the General ledger of (2) companies (Operating and Retirement) as well as engage with segregation of duties with other finance staff members to achieve best accounting practices. The Senior Accountant supports the efforts of the senior leadership of the Province and serves as an integral member of the many Province fiscal operations.

Specific Responsibilities
Provides a primary point of contact for the friars of the Province regarding finance matters. Day-to-day duties include:

a) Determining the needs of the friars and other entities dealing with the Province office. Provides advice, guidance, answers and/or solutions. Refers the more serious matters of the friars to the appropriate Province office (e.g., Provincial Vicar, Finance Officer, Treasurer, Secretary, Director of Healthcare, Human Resource Consultant, etc.) for further action.

b) Manages the following accounting procedures
I. Proper posting of daily deposits to multiple bank accounts
II. Assisting Finance Director in cash flow management, schedule timely payments for large invoices. Coordinates with Administrative Office on timely payment of other invoices
III. Timely internal invoicing, receivable tracking of required billings.
IV. Monthly review of internal financial statements

c) Lead role in preparation and schedules for annual audit

d) Serves as manager for Province wide fleet management of automobiles

e) Assists in banking, ach/wire transfers and Province wide credit cards

f) Prepares and analyzes quarterly reports for distribution

g) Prepares various monthly bank reconciliations

h) Performing special projects and tasks as required.

i) Other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications Required
a) Preference for a practicing Catholic
b) 5 years of experience in full charge accounting;
c) CPA preferred; strong knowledge of GAAP needed
d) Extensive Quickbooks experience including analyzing generated financial statements.
e) skills, such as proficiency in Excel, Word and other office related software packages
f) attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines.
