Job Description

Chesterton Academy - Queen of Martyrs, an independent Classical Catholic high school in Sun Prairie, WI seeks a talented and dynamic part-time or full time Literature and History teacher to join our team in the 2025-26 academic year. We are seeking faithful, joyful disciples of Jesus Christ, who have a passion for classical education, forming a rich Catholic community, and building a healthy and thriving institutional culture. The ideal candidate is a prayerful servant who loves educating youth and is dedicated to the formation of the whole human person. This position will help to create and preserve a joyful learning environment that cultivates virtue and teaches students to embody truth, goodness, and beauty leading young adults in their academic and spiritual formation.

The successful candidate must have a passion for Literature and/or History which is matched by their love of teaching and forming high school students in the Catholic faith. Literature and History will be studying the Ancient World and the Early Medieval Period. Authors that will be studied include G.K. Chesterton, Homer, Aeschylus, Virgil, Augustine, Chaucer and Shakespeare. The particular assigned teaching load will vary depending on the aptitude of the candidate and the school's needs.

Exceptional candidates will demonstrate a broad knowledge of the topics listed above and possess a proven history of contributing to the vision and mission of apostolic and educational initiatives.

In addition to their teaching responsibilities, faculty at Chesterton Academy - Queen of Martyrs participate in the House system, which is designed to promote character and virtue, and to help students grow in holiness. Faculty members are required to participate in the spiritual life of the school to the greatest degree possible for a part-time teacher including but not limited to attending and participating in fundraising, recruitment, promotional, and school events such as school fairs, open houses, information sessions etc. All faculty members are expected to promote the school in a good light and invite future students, parents, donors and advocates to be a part of the community.

Requirements
-Must be practicing Roman Catholic, pursuing a life of virtue and holiness through prayer and the Sacramental life willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium (Required)
-Bachelor's Degree (Required)
-Master's Degree (Preferred)
-Postsecondary education and/or professional experience related to the subject matter being taught (Preferred)
-Experience in secondary school teaching (Preferred)
-Experience teaching in a classical school environment (Preferred)
-Exposure to a classical school environment, whether through attending, teaching or administration
-Demonstrated experience and love for teaching others
-Proficiencies in content knowledge and teaching ability; including a commitment to Catholic secondary education
-Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
-Resilient and adaptable with strong time management and organizational skills as well as problem solving abilities.
-Committed to the mission of Chesterton Schools Network and the teachings of the Catholic Church
