Classical High School Choir(Music)/Drama Teacher - Part/Full TimeChesterton Academy of St. Joseph, a joyfully Catholic, classical high school, seeks a talented and dynamic high school teacher to join our team starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. The position may be part time or supplemented into a full time position with other duties.
The Chesterton Academy of St. Joseph: As part of the Chesterton School's Network, the Chesterton Academy of St. Joseph will begin its fourth year in the Fall of 2025. Its inception is the result of local families and educators working to found a devoted high school built upon intentional community, Catholic tradition and the sacraments in Dayton, OH.
The Role and Expectations: A bachelor's or master's degree is required. Experience in classical education and curriculum is preferred. The candidate should understand and be able to teach using an integrated curriculum drawn from the great books which allows for the connection between the humanities and the arts/sciences. He/she will be familiar with teaching in the Socratic method.
There are 2 levels of choir which includes all students. There is a music history/theory component to the class, and a performance each semester.
All students from sophomore to senior participate in Drama throughout the year. There are 2-3 plays put on each year depending on class sizes.
The candidate must be a practicing Catholic able to actively mentor the students in the faith, and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills, and possess a track record of contributing to the vision and mission of an apostolic and educational enterprise.
In addition to their teaching responsibilities, faculty at Chesterton Academy participate in the House system, which is designed to promote character and virtue, and to help students grow in holiness. Faculty members are required to attend daily Mass with the entire student body, and assist in leading spiritual retreats and school activities.
