The Management Collaborative for Religious (MCR) is hiring a full-time Director of Finance to oversee the financial and accounting activities of four Catholic women's religious congregations. SUMMARY:
This executive leadership role will provide oversight to the administration of investment and insurance programs, the efficient management of financial resources, short and long-term planning, day-to-day transactional activity, financial/corporate/tax reporting needs and requirements, and the safeguarding of all financial assets. These activities are performed directly and through the management of others.
Initially, the MCR Director of Finance will need to evaluate the organization's pool of work, design an organization chart, recommend staffing levels to the MCR Board, and create the MCR Team.
CORE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor the investment portfolio allocation to ensure compliance with each Congregation's investment policies and execute the directives of each Congregation's investment committee.
- Manage the property, casualty, and health insurance programs of each Congregation.
- Participate in short-term, including developing the annual budget, and long-term financial planning to ensure the strategic and financial goals of each Congregation will be achieved.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations on various aspects of each Congregation's activities such as departmental and programmatic operations.
- Manage the daily cash receipts, cash disbursements, and payroll processes and monitor operational and capital receipts and spending of each Congregation.
- Direct the annual review or audit processes, serving as the point of contact for the outside accounting firm and addressing issues as they arise throughout the review/audit process.
- Manage all financial reporting, corporate, legal, and tax compliance including but not limited to board meeting minutes, various state corporate filings, sister tax returns and real estate and sales tax exemptions, NRRO report, and grant reports.
- Establish and maintain adequate internal controls, safeguards, and financial policies over each Congregation's financial assets.
- Periodically report and make recommendations to the MCR Board on MCR operations and results.
Administer service contracts, as needed.
-Manage vehicle, telephone, and credit card programs.
Serve as an advisory resource to convents and Sisters regarding financial, tax, and business matters.
- Hire, supervise, and manage the performance of accounting staff recommending and implementing personnel actions, such as promotions and dismissals.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, accounting or finance
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in financial management with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning
- Experience managing a staff is required
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of software for accounting, compliance, resource planning, and reporting
- Non-profit/religious experience preferred
- Certification in Public Accounting preferred
