6th-8th Grade Social Studies and Religion Teacher (Leave)

Job Description

We are currently interviewing for a 6th-8th SS and Religion teacher to cover a maternity leave March 24, 2025 -June 2025.

The leave begins the week of March 24th teaching 6th -8th grade Social Studies and 6th - 8th grade Religion.

This temporary position will involve:

-Teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade middle school students in a classroom setting, managing their work output in the classroom and behavior on a daily basis.
-Develop teaching and learning materials for use in class, including lesson plans, exams and homework, homework and projects, and assignments that make use of all student skills for Social Studies and Religion.
-Modify lesson plans and materials as needed to make them suitable for students' current learning levels.
-Monitor and track student progress and issue grades.
-Maintain relationships with parents and legal guardians of students in order to keep them informed of their child's progress.
-Work collaboratively with other teachers and administrators, including support staff , to provide individualized support for each student on a regular basis.
-Collaborate with other teachers in order to share best practices and provide meaningful feedback regularly.
-Ensure that students meet educational standards and school performance goals for their grade level.

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will:

-Be an actively practicing Catholic who desires to share the faith with students.
-Be committed to academic excellence and a willingness to meet the education needs of the individual student.
-Utilize technology in the classroom for teaching and learning.
-Work in partnership with teachers, specialists, support staff, and administration.
-Communicate effectively with students, families, staff members, and the community.
-Have a BA/BS Degree.
-Hold a NYS teaching license (preferred)
-Have appropriate education experiences.
