Job Description
PRINCIPAL ORGANIST | STARTING IMMEDIATELYSt. Mark Catholic Church - 9905 Foothills Canyon Blvd., Highlands Ranch, CO 80129
Principal Organist position open immediately at St. Mark Catholic Church in Highlands Ranch,
CO. Seeking an organist to play for 8AM, 10AM, and Noon Masses on Sundays and choir
rehearsal on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:15. Pay negotiable based upon experience (range
$150-$200/Mass).
Our parish music program repertoire consists of traditional, Catholic sacred music with a mixture
of chant, choral music, and hymnody. Ideal candidates are those proficient in both organ and
piano. We have a new 3-manual Rodgers digital organ and a 9-foot Steinway D that are used
regularly at Mass. All Masses have staff cantors, and the choir is a semi-professional group of
approximately 20 singers.
Qualifications:
• Degree in music and/or professional experience in sacred, liturgical music (including
hymnody, chant, and choral literature).
• Demonstrated ability in accompanying soloists and choirs.
• Experience as a church accompanist strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in legato fingering and pedaling technique a must.
• Experience playing for the Novus Ordo Catholic Mass is preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Primarily accompany 8AM, 10AM, and Noon Masses throughout the year.
• Accompany additional Masses during the high seasons of the Church year (Christmas and
Easter with additional holiday pay), and various solemnities and feast days.
• Weekly time commitment approximately 8-10 hours (including in person and preparation).
• To learn and execute music selected by the Director of Sacred Music to a high degree of
preparation and excellence.
• To participate, as part of the Music Ministry, in a collegial and collaborative manner.
• To treat the people and the Church with respect and reverence.
