Job Description
Primary function: To serve as the pastor's delegate and parish's primary minister in the area of sacred, liturgical music. Full time or Part time.Qualifications:
Education, training, experience, skills and ability equivalent to Bachelors of Music (degree preferred but not required if otherwise qualified).
Ability to accompany on organ, piano, and keyboard
Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships.
Broad ecclesiastical repertoire of traditional and contemporary music, ranging from Gregorian chant to hymns to contemporary liturgical music.
Ability to prepare vocalists, cantors, and choirs
Willing and able to learn the Roman Catholic Church's norms and practices related to sacred music and liturgy
The ability to successfully complete a criminal history and background check and Safe Environment requirements
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct and coordinate the music ministry of the parish, planning and preparing music for the liturgy
Direct the choir(s) of the parish
Prepare vocalists, cantors, choir members. Grow the vocal abilities of volunteer singers.
Accompany liturgies and rehearsals, or coordinate with alternates / substitutes
Recruiting, retaining, expanding, training, and collaborating with volunteers of all ages and abilities in music ministry
Curate the parish music library, advise on maintenance/repair of instruments
Prepare and lead music for Sundays, Christmas, Easter, Holy Days, and others occasions
Assist in preparing music for weddings and funerals
Expands and develops the musical repertoire of the congregation and choir
Develops the singing of the congregation; musical education of the congregation
Preparing music for various voices / instruments, basic arranging / transposing
Operation of audio system, sound board, microphones, and related technology
Continue professional growth and develop, practice and rehearse
Maintain Safe Environment compliance of music ministry
