Trinity Executive Partnership is assisting Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston in their recruitment of a new Associate Vice President of Development/Major Gifts Officer.For more than 80 years, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston (CCGH) has provided food, clothing, shelter and a network of support services to people of all ages and from all walks of life and religious backgrounds, promoting social justice, and serving as a voice for the poor and vulnerable. CCGH, a nationally recognized and accredited non-profit organization, is a member agency of the United Way of Greater Houston and a member of Catholic Charities USA, one of the largest private networks of social services providers in the country. CCGH typically serves more than 100,000 clients annually and has an annual budget of over $100 million.
Summary:
The Associate Vice President of Development - Major Gifts Officer (AVPD-MGO) reports to the Vice President of Development and Stewardship (VPDS) and serves CCGH's mission by working collaboratively with the VPDS and CEO to identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit prospects and donors for major gifts ($25,000+) to help CCGH reach its fundraising target of $7-10 million. The AVPD-MGO also works closely with the VPDS and the CEO in various development activities including: developing major gift strategies; preparing grant proposals and reports; conducting cultivation and stewardship activities with donors and prospects; drafting, reviewing, and revising marketing and communications copy; developing collateral related to programs and organization activities. The AVPD-MGO manages a team of 4 development officers, providing guidance and support to ensure that the major gifts team achieves annual and campaign goals. The AVP-MGO will also be instrumental in CCGH successfully completing its current $25 million capital campaign, which will put in place a new family opportunity center in the Eastex-Jensen neighborhood North of Downtown Houston. The AVP-MGO ensures that CCGH has the financial resources necessary for the program teams to meet the needs of CCGH's clients.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
- 10 years of experience in fund development, grant writing, and/or sales/marketing
- In-depth knowledge of fund development and fund raising, preferably in a non-profit, social services related setting
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, combined with experience in managing multiple, overlapping deadlines and duties
- Software skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Raiser's Edge and/or ability to become familiar with these tools
- Personal alignment with the teachings of and active participation in the Catholic Church
