Position Title: Parish Accounting Support/Shared Services

Qualifications: Applicants must have a degree in accounting, business, or equivalent and have a minimum of five years accounting/bookkeeping experience including payroll. This is the perfect position for a meticulous, experienced person who is a team player, a strong multi-tasker, visionary, and an independent worker/self-starter. Applicants must have the heart of a teacher and be comfortable with working in environments with others possessing a variety of skill levels.

Additional qualifications include:
A practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
Ability to work comfortably in a Catholic, multicultural setting.
Ability to communicate effectively in English in oral and written form using correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Competent computer skills: Google Suite, Microsoft Office: Word & Excel.
Three years of experience in internal or external auditing.
Knowledge of accepted accounting principles and financial procedures and proper internal audit functions and requirements.
Working knowledge of applicable federal and state tax laws.
Ability to work and relate to a variety of personalities, ages, and cultures with diplomacy, friendliness, and poise.
Able to work in a team-oriented environment, handle multiple assignments consecutively, and prioritize workload.
Additional emphasis will be given to those who also possess the following:
o Working knowledge of ParishSOFT Family Suite: Offering & Pledges and ParishSOFT Accounting.

Key Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Diocesan CFO:
Implement financial and administrative policies.
Participate in ParishSOFT training and keep abreast of updates and best practices.
Assist Internal Auditor in preparation of parish/school accounting reports prior to each audit.
Following review reports from Internal Auditor, assist parish/school with implementation of recommendations through accounting procedures and software.
Maintain shared database of parish/school financial reports and accounting service progress.
Respond to parish/school accounting questions.
Assist in training new parish/school staff of Diocesan accounting systems.
Attend department meetings as requested.
Attend parish/school Finance Council meetings as requested.
Attend outside workshops to stay current in accounting practices.
Prepare and present educational, financial, and administrative workshops to parishes and school financial and administrative staff.
