Job Description

I. GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION PURPOSE
To implement Parish Family 45's commitment to youth and young adult ministry in a comprehensive manner. Nurture the faith development of young people through Christ-centered and engaging programs that foster discipleship, community, and service. This includes the following elements: catechesis, evangelization, social action, community building, spirituality, liturgy, guidance, enablement, and advocacy. Parish Family 45 is composed of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the Proto-Cathedral of St. James the Greater.

II. ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:
A. Collaborates with the canonically appointed leader, parish and school staff, and consultative bodies in implementing the mission and vision of the parish family.

B. Assures the development of programs and activities for junior and senior high youth that foster spiritual formation. This should include but not be limited to retreats, religious education, socials, recreation, athletic activities, outreach programs, youth-oriented liturgies, and community service opportunities.

C. Assures the development and implementation of faith formation programs for youth. Actively recruits, enables, directs, trains, and supervises catechists and other personnel for faith formation programs for junior and senior high youth, including Confirmation where applicable. Collaborates with teachers in Catholic elementary and high schools in developing and implementing Religious education opportunities.

D. Assures the development of programs and activities for young adults (ages 18-35) that foster spiritual formation. This includes but is not limited to retreats, religious education, socials, recreation, community service outreach and liturgical celebrations. Coordinates efforts to identify and involve young adults in the parish.

E. Coordinates evangelization outreach programs to youth and young adults.

F. Plans, coordinates and implements the annual summer mission trips for youth in the parish family. Duties include but not limited to:

Supports and empowers parents in coordinating fundraising opportunities, organizing team-building opportunities during the preparation period.
Organizes team-building opportunities for participants in preparation period.
Schedules regular planning meetings with leadership team
Provides opportunities for participants to grow and deepen their faith and understanding of social justice.
Services as liaison to service organizations.
Plans and coordinates all travel logistics for the mission trip events
Attends the mission trip events.
G. Develops and administers the youth and young adult program budget as delegated by the pastoral leader.

H. Attends regular staff meetings and participates in staff planning as needed.

I. Learn and use specified productivity software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Paycom, ParishStaq, and facilities scheduling app.

J. Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required for this Catholic ministry through regular updating, reading appropriate materials and participation at workshops and conventions. Participates in local, regional, and national professional organizations, as approved and as appropriate.

K. Performs other duties as assigned.
