Job Description
I. IDENTIFYING INFORMATIONPosition Title: Coordinator of Evangelization & Outreach
Location: St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227
Status: Full Time
FLSA: Exempt
Reports to: Director of Ministry Operations
Supervises: N/A
II. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The Coordinator of Evangelization & Outreach is responsible for the development, implementation, and support of programs/ministries in the areas of evangelization and community outreach. The coordinator attends to active parishioners through renewal/formation of various parish ministries, as well as the inactive community and the unchurched within the parish boundary through outreach and welcoming initiatives. Primary goals of this position include the fostering of conversion and growth in discipleship among the faithful; developing a welcoming community; equipping parishioners to evangelize by witness, word, and action; and enhancing communication and relationship beyond the formal parish community.
III. POSITION CONTENT
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Collaborate with the pastor, DOMO, leadership/ministry staffs, and appropriate parish councils/committees to articulate a vision for evangelization in the parish
2. Develop and implement strategies to reach/minister to active parishioners/school families, inactive Catholics, and the unchurched within the community
3. Coordinate/Support ministries of evangelization and outreach, both internal to the parish and outside the established community; strive for continuous improvement of these ministries
4. Collect and analyze data (e.g. needs assessments, area demographics, etc.) for purposes of pastoral and strategic planning
5. Partner with the Communications Coordinator to create content that enhances communication with the parish/school and broader community
6. Foster positive public relations within the parish/school and with the broader community
7. Participates in staff meetings and planning/strategy sessions, as appropriate
8. Partner with school leadership to identify and implement opportunities/strategies for the evangelization of our students and school families
IV. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
A. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR ABILITIES
1. Must be an active Catholic in good standing, participating in the sacramental life of the Church
2. Must possess a working knowledge of Catholic theology and spirituality, including, but not limited to, Sacred Scripture and Church documents on evangelization
3. Must possess a willingness to foster the Church's mission
4. Must possess strong verbal and written communication, organizational, presentation, project management, and time management skills
5. Must possess the ability to work independently
B. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor Degree in Catechesis, Pastoral Ministry, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
2. Practical experience of 3+ years preferred
3. Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
4. Must be able to successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training
5. Background screening required
