Schedule: Full-time; Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., some evenings and weekends

POSITION SUMMARY
The Accessibility Coordinator ensures students with disabilities have equal access to University programs, facilities, activities, and services in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and amendments, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act; and other applicable state and federal laws. The Accessibility Coordinator is responsible for reviewing, interpreting, and evaluating documentation and diagnostic information to determine reasonable accommodations for students with varying disabilities. In addition, this position is responsible for collaborating with faculty and staff to provide accommodations, improve accessibility, and promote inclusive design.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Evaluate student eligibility for disability services based on appropriate documentation, application materials, and information gained from intake meeting.

2. Determine and provide appropriate academic, housing, and dietary accommodations and services in a timely manner. Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement appropriate accommodations and services as needed.

3. Track intake and review of documentation; maintain accurate student case files.

4. Oversee the Testing Center. Responsibilities include ensuring students with disabilities receive approved testing accommodations, scheduling of make-up and CLEP exams, assigning of testing proctors, etc.

5. Manage walk-ins and advise current and prospective students/families about available disability services, the policies and procedures for requesting accommodations, and connect them with all appropriate constituencies on campus.

6. Hire, train and supervise multiple student workers, including test proctors, note takers, lab assistants, tutors, office workers, etc.

7. Provide consultation and training to faculty, staff and departments regarding accessibility issues and laws.

REQUIREMENTS

Technical Skills
• Ability to use student information system and learning management systems.
• Ability to use and train students on various assistive and adaptive technology programs.

• Quality of Work: Sets and adheres to the AHEAD standards of performance regarding the provision of disability services; consistently checks work for accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness; keeps supervisor informed of progress to avoid problems.

• Functional Skills: Consistently demonstrates proficiency of appropriate disability accommodations and services; actively seeks out ways to continually improve the required skills or knowledge; stays informed of current legal cases and resulting impacts.

Education and Experience
• Masters degree in a human services field such as education, social work, counseling, psychology, or related field with advanced knowledge of a broad spectrum of disability support services.
• Previous experience in education, counseling, or social work preferably in higher education.
• Experience working with individuals with a broad spectrum of disabilities.
• Experience providing disability services or accommodations to students in higher education or K-12 environment.

Workplace Factors
• Sit or stand in front of computer for long periods of time.
• Occasional evening and weekend work required.
