Position Description
Job Title: Assistant Director of Campus Ministry
Job Status: Full-time; 12 months
Reporting Functions: Reports to the Chaplain (Director of Campus Ministry).
Job Function: The Assistant Director would report to the Chaplain of the school and assist the Chaplain in the leadership, oversight, and management of Campus Ministry.
Necessary Qualities:
Must be a faithful, missionary disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ who is actively striving for holiness and has a deep, strong love for Christ and His Catholic Church.
Must be an active, practicing Catholic who frequents the Sacraments and is active in his/her home parish. He/she must secure a Letter of Good Standing from the Pastor of his/her parish.
Possess a heart and passion for serving young people (high school students in particular) and a great desire to evangelize and catechize young people.
Ability to connect and relate with high school students - must be kind, charitable, merciful, compassionate, patient, personable, and approachable. Must possess a strong work ethic, healthy sense of humor, and active listening skills.
Humble, energetic, creative, communicative, highly motivated, self-starter who takes initiative in the service of others. Should be innovative in finding ways to evangelize, catechize, serve, and engage high school students.
A mature and professional team-player who is willing and able to collaborate with the Chaplain, Principal, Administrative team, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and students.
Must comply with all Diocesan employee requirements, including but not limited to criminal background checks, mandated reporter training, Protecting God's Children, etc.
Additional Conditions of Employment
Candidate must be orthodox in his/her Catholicism, meaning he/she must be in good standing and faithful to all the Magisterial teachings, have a deep knowledge of the Catholic faith, and agree to live by the tenets of the Catholic faith, including in lifestyle and on personal social media.
Given that this would be a full-time Administrative position, the Assistant Director of Campus Ministry would not also simultaneously work as a faculty member or a staff member of Bethlehem Catholic HS.
Duties and Core Responsibilities:
Assist the Chaplain in the planning and execution of all Campus Ministry initiatives, including but not limited to: events, retreats, activities, pilgrimages, liturgies, and sacramental celebrations. This will include the planning and execution of all School Masses, School Confessions, First Friday Adorations, Baccalaureate Masses, Campus Ministry sponsored community service, etc.
Responsible for assigning altar servers, readers, gift-bearers, and volunteers for all school Masses and liturgies.
Assist the Chaplain in leading and overseeing a Student Campus Ministry team, who would help plan and execute Campus ministry initiatives, events, retreats, activities, pilgrimages, community service events, etc.
Responsible for taking high-quality pictures of Campus Ministry events, activities, liturgies, initiatives, retreats, pilgrimages, etc. and working with those responsible for the social media/marketing of the school to share with the public what Campus Ministry is doing.
Responsible for the oversight, management, and execution of Bethlehem Catholic's Community Service Program, which is an expression of our Catholic identity and mission.
Using the MobileServe system, the Assistant Director of Campus Ministry is responsible for tracking and approving students' community service hours based on Bethlehem Catholic's specific requirements for community service found in the Service Handbook.
Responsible for helping to provide community service opportunities for all the students.
Responsible for helping to establish and maintain partnerships with parishes, charities, and other non-profit organizations for the sake of student community service. Will coordinate any efforts with these entities for the sake of promoting community service opportunities to the students.
Responsible for sharing and promoting all community service opportunities with the students via RenWeb.
Will field any questions or concerns about a student's community service hours. If the Assistant Director of Campus Ministry is uncertain as to whether a student's community service hours will qualify, they should raise the issue with the Chaplain.
Assistant Director of Campus Ministry is a member of the Administrative team-will attend all Administrative team meetings and be an integral part of key decisions and discussions.
Opportunities for and participation in professional development/training with reimbursement will be provided.
Educational Qualifications:
Must be well-formed and possess a strong competency and knowledge of the Catholic faith as well as the Magisterial teachings of the Church.
Bachelor's Degree in Catholic Theology required. Master's
Degree in Catholic Theology/Catechetics/Campus Ministry or a related field preferred.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and stoop. Must be able to talk and hear, both in person and by telephone. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by the means of spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
Working Conditions: Normal school setting, 12-months; full-time position, 7:30 am - 3:00 pm. Summer hours are 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. May be required to assist with special events on nights and weekends dedicated to Campus Ministry in addition to regular hours. Time is designated and scheduled for Campus Ministry only and protected from additional assignments such as lunch duty, substitution coverage, study hall monitor, main office coverage, etc.
