ST. BERNADETTE - Faith Formation & Youth Minister CoordinatorReports To: Director of Evangelization and Administration
Position Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Job Summary: The Faith Formation Coordinator, working jointly with supervisor and with the approval of the Pastor is responsible for coordinating a faith formation program, for youth ages 4-18, for St. Bernadette that forms well educated and committed disciples, who both live and share the Catholic faith with the world.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge
• A demonstrated faith commitment; practicing Catholic and member in good standing of a Catholic Parish; dedicated to the Gospel values and living a life of prayer and service.
• A working knowledge of theology, education and child development that can be translated into age-appropriate catechesis as it pertains to youth and young adults.
• A minimum of a BA/BS, preferably in theology or related area of study, or have completed the Emmaus Program with 2 years of related experience.
Skills & Abilities
• Understanding of the physical, emotional, intellectual and faith characteristics of youth age 3-18.
• Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology, such as laptops and projectors, and show proficiency in programs such as Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Canva, social media tools and use of the internet.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Willingness to participate in training and continued education opportunities.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with supervisor, Pastor, staff, catechists, parents and volunteers.
• Must be organized and able to handle multiple projects and priorities as required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and successfully pass a background check.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Lead a personal and professional lifestyle that models a believing, practicing Catholic.
• Implement the Faith Formation program curriculum, individual grade lesson plans (pre-k thru tenth grade), assist with youth activities and Family Nights.
• Must be comfortable in a position of authority and able to manage a classroom. Capable of keeping the children safe and abiding by all VIRTUS and Diocesan policies.
• Responsible for the creation of a calendar of events in coordination with the Parish.
• Reach out to and engage with Catholic School staff, students, and families to create a fuller, inclusive, and unified youth program.
• Foster relationships and collaboration with clergy and parish staff and families.
• Support program fundraising events.
• Use effective communication methods to promote programs, communicate with parents, and keep the parishes we serve aware of the benefits of the program.
• Maintain parish website with focus on Evangelization and ensure all content is relevant and timely.
• Be present before and after at least one weekend of Masses monthly.
• Ability to stay positive, multi-task, be an effective team member, and complete tasks on time within budget.
• Attend Parish bi-monthly staff meetings and meet weekly with Director of Evangelization (one-on-one).
• Deliver evangelization content via social media.
• Agree to a commitment to confidentiality of personal information of our congregations and staff.
• Complete administrative duties as necessary
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical/Visual/Mental Demands: Ability to use a computer, copier, telephone/voice mail, and email. Frequently required to sit, walk and stand. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds; bend, kneel and reach. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet environments and be comfortable in loud environments. Employee must maintain emotional control under stress and work with frequent interruptions.
Typical Working Conditions: The position is a full-time, year-round position, typically working weekdays during daytime hours, Wednesday evenings, and one additional evening during the week for youth nights. Must be flexible working weekends throughout the year and summer programs. Dependable attendance is required.
