Job Description

Church of the Holy Family in Virginia Beach is seeking a Director/Coordinator of Religious Education who knows, loves, and lives the teachings of the Church.

The DRE/CRE will report directly to the Pastor and will oversee all aspects of faith formation at the parish: children's faith formation and adult formation including RCIA, youth, and young adult ministry. The ability to work with other pastoral staff, and organizational skills - including database and records management - are essential.

The Director/Coordinator of Religious Education is directly responsible for and coordinates the K-5 religious education program and First Sacraments program as well as adult formation ministries.

As a representative of the pastor, the DRE/CRE manages program content, staff, and budgets; and coordinates with other parish ministries and activities. The DRE/CRE will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented, proficient in Microsoft Office, and be capable of learning new computer programs.

Qualifications
- The DRE/CRE will have 3 years of experience in a Catholic parish and preferably possess a Master of Theology. Requirements include knowledge of Church teachings and Catholic sacramental theology, in particular, the sacraments of initiation. Given the position and its responsibilities, the DRE needs to be a Catholic in good standing and must be VIRTUS-trained or eligible for VIRTUS training. Salary is commensurate with experience and education according to diocesan scale.
