Job Description

Purpose:

This role supports and guides Families of Parishes (FoPs) in developing and implementing a comprehensive pastoral plan to create vibrant faith communities rooted in Unleash the Gospel. The change management specialist assists Families of Parishes in discerning the best use of resources to create mission-driven parishes and responds to the challenges and opportunities of our time.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitation and Advocacy:

Lead clergy and laity through a planning process to identify priorities, set goals, and develop a pastoral plan aligned with Archdiocesan policies. Facilitate difficult group discussions and exercises; provide advice to clergy in navigating the process.

Serve as a liaison between the Archdiocese of Detroit and Families of Parishes to support pastoral planning initiatives.

Monitor and review Family Pastoral Council and Family Finance Team activities to ensure compliance with established procedures.

Provide guidance and support to the Family Pastoral Council and Family Finance Team to ensure the interpretation and application of policies and procedures.

Relationship Building:

Work proactively to establish trust and collaboration to maintain authentic connections to parish communities (staff/volunteers), which allow the Family of Parishes to build sustainable pastoral plans.

Maintain effective communication and build trust within all levels of the Church's leadership structures and consultative bodies.

Collaborate with key stakeholders to drive project outcomes and support the implementation of the pastoral plan.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

Ability to collect, analyze, and synthesize data that tells a story by identifying key themes and actionable insights.

Communicate findings effective to various audiences, helping them understand and utilize the data to make informed decisions or recommendations.

Analyze data related to pastoral planning and financial activities.

Prepare and present reports to Archdiocesan leadership on the progress and outcomes of projects.

Use data to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions.

Training and Development:

Develop and implement training programs for volunteer pastoral planning facilitators.

Conduct workshops and training sessions to equip volunteer facilitators with the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful in the development of pastoral plans.

Provide ongoing support and resources to volunteer facilitators to ensure effective pastoral planning processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business, psychology, human resources, political science, theology, pastoral ministry, or related fields.

Three to five years of leadership experience in a Catholic parish, diocese, or non-profit organization.

Key Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Knowledge and experience of Change Management processes.

Collaborative leadership skills and the ability to influence at all levels of an organization.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Ability to set and execute goals/objectives with volunteer-based groups. Also, solve problems, identify effective solutions, and facilitate/manage group dynamics.

Ability to recognize and appreciate cultural diversity and differences in personality.

Strong understanding of Catholic culture, Church structure, and parish life.

Provide concrete examples of learning and displaying proficiency with new technology and software tools.

Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) and coaching certification are a plus.

Required Qualifications or Conditions:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT).

Must have a valid driver's license, safe driving record, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit.

Availability of working evenings and weekends as needed.

Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values.
