Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Vocations Office of the Dominican Friars Province of Saint Joseph is looking to hire a part-time Administrative Assistant in Washington, D.C., to support the Director of Vocations.

Duties will include:

- Basic Bookkeeping: recording income and expenses in Quickbooks, keeping track of receipts and appropriately documenting expenses, preparing checks and reports as needed
- Administrative Support: assisting the Director of Vocations in keeping track of paperwork and correspondence with aspirants and applicants to the Province
- Communications Support: assisting in the maintenance of email lists in Mailchimp, designing and writing emails and social media posts
- Event/Travel Support: assisting with travel arrangements and shipping necessary print materials in advance of the Director of Vocations' travel

QUALIFICATIONS

1.) Faithfully Catholic
- Applicants must be practicing Catholics in good standing who assent to and profess the Catholic faith in its entirety as presented in the Catechism of the Catholic Church
- Passionate about the Dominican mission and charism
- A general understanding of the priesthood and of religious life
- Personal knowledge of the Dominican Friars or another religious community would be a plus

2.) Team player
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop professional relationships of trust and respect with friars, colleagues, and young men in inquiring about a possible vocation
- Good work ethic with a continued willingness to learn and grow

3.) Strong performer
- Organized and detail oriented
- Pleasant and effective communicator, especially via email and phone
- Mastery of Microsoft Word/Excel (including the ability to mail merge), and mastery of Google Docs/Google Sheets/Google Drive is necessary
- Experience with Quickbooks would be a plus; ability to learn quickly is necessary
- Basic graphic design skills or the ability to learn them would be a plus

IMPORTANT NOTES

This position is part-time, paid at $25 per hour for 20-25 hours per week. Work would be performed at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C.

The scheduled hours for this position can be anytime within normal business hours (9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday), 4-5 hours per day.
