Job Description

Sacred Heart Church, Haworth, NJ is seeking a part time Parish Catechetical Leader (PCL) beginning with the new 2025-26 academic year (July 1). The responsibilities of the position include the administration and supervision of faith formation for children and adults. The family-based program includes approximately 100 children, grades 1-8. The PCL is responsible for sacramental preparation for First Penance, First Communion and Confirmation for children as well as the ongoing faith formation for catechists and parents in the parish. Supervision of 1 part-time employee and numerous volunteers.

Applicant must be a fully initiated, practicing Catholic and should have a desire to support the mission of the Church in evangelization. He or She should have a desire to engage and support the spiritual needs of children and their families in a vibrant faith formation program. A degree or certification in religious studies is preferred. Computer skills required. Candidates should have excellent organizational and pastoral skills in the area of faith formation, leadership, collaboration, office management, writing and personal communication. Candidates must be able to work collaboratively with the pastor and pastoral staff.
