Job Description
Catholic Mobilizing Network (CMN) seeks an enthusiastic, skilled self-starter to serve as Digital Communications Associate. A desirable candidate for this position is highly creative, detail-oriented, and adept at juggling multiple projects and timelines. An ideal Digital Communications Associate is a strong writer with experience using digital design platforms. Experience with website development and/or email marketing platforms is a plus. This position is benefited by some existing familiarity with engaging Catholic audiences, as well as a commitment to criminal legal reform and racial justice.The Digital Communications Associate works within the Communications Team to support the organization's efforts to end the death penalty, advance justice, and begin healing through the creation and publication of various forms of digital media. This position supports four key communications areas: planning & messaging; digital content development; monitoring & evaluation and administrative areas.
This position is full-time, based in Washington, D.C., and may require occasional travel. Some flexibility to work offsite. The Digital Communications Associate is supervised by the Senior Communications Manager and will work within a dynamic and collaborative team. Specifically, the position is responsible for the following:
Assistance in Communications Planning & Messaging
- Support the creation of a robust content calendar for email marketing and social media deliverables, in direct collaboration with the Senior Communications Manager.
- Oversee the routine upkeep of the content calendar on Trello, a project management platform.
Digital Content Development
- Manage the organization's social media accounts: X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Create engaging and meaningful social media content that spreads CMN's mission and message.
- Take lead on posting social media content and monitoring and responding to comments.
- Support drafting, editing, and preparation of e-blasts to the CMN network.
- Update website pages regularly, including posting content to the site to ensure that information remains current, including news, blogs, events, action opportunities, and more.
- Create online advocacy actions and sign-up forms using the EveryAction platform.
- Assist fellow staff members in the creation of slide decks for presentations.
- Film or capture CMN "at work" during special events and/or on special projects.
Attending to Ongoing Monitoring & Evaluation
- Pull regular data from social media platforms for analytics reporting.
- Utilize reporting features on EveryAction to track engagement with online actions.
- Assist Senior Communications Manager in organizing and sharing meaningful data.
Supporting Administrative Aspects of Communications
- Monitor the organization's general inquiry email account.
- Oversee and provide technical support for CMN's online events.
- Review graphic design projects to ensure adherence to CMN's brand guidelines.
- Support CMN's presence at national conferences and related events.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings, supervisor check-ins, organizational planning, retreats, and staff trainings as needed.
- Other administrative functions and projects as assigned.
Required skills:
- Proven skills in writing and editorial abilities.
- Experience managing social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and X, and a demonstrated ability to follow ever-changing best practices and trends within these platforms.
- Strong analytical ability to monitor success of digital content and to make delivery adjustments.
- Experience with photography and videography for the production of in-house videos and photos to support digital content creation.
- Familiarity with graphic design programs, CRMs, email marketing platforms, website design (HTML, CSS), and video editing - specifically, Canva, Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Rush and/or Premiere Pro. Experience with Zoom, GoogleSuite, etc.
- Interest in advocacy around the U.S. system of capital punishment and restorative justice.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines and while maintaining a high attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related field.
- Commitment to the mission and guiding principles of Catholic Mobilizing Network, including a commitment to racial equity.
- Awareness of Catholic theology and Catholic social teaching.
- Comfort working independently, and appreciative of a collaborative work environment.
