Job Description
Are you ready to ignite young souls with the beauty of Catholicism? We're seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to join our team as a Middle School Theology Teacher. With the right candidate, there is the potential to take on some youth ministry responsibilities after school and during the summer for housing benefits.At St. John the Evangelist, we're dedicated to nurturing the spiritual growth of our students. As a Catholic institution, we believe in teaching the truth of our Catholic faith and instilling values and virtues that will guide our students throughout their lives. Our goal is that our students learn the Catholic faith AND develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging lessons on Catholic theology, scripture, and tradition
Prepare students for the Sacrament of Confirmation
Foster a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable exploring their faith
Encourage critical thinking and discussion about moral and ethical issues within the context of Catholic teachings
Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support the holistic development of students
Potentially plan and execute youth events such as retreats, summer programs, Alpha, Steubenville Conference and service projects with the Director of Religious Education and Youth Minister. (Taking on these duties would qualify for additional benefits, including housing).
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Theology, Youth Ministry or Religious Studies preferred
Practicing Catholic with a deep personal faith and strong passion for sharing our Catholic faith
Understanding and appreciation of Catholic teachings and traditions
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth
Administrative, organizational, communication, public speaking and computer skills are all essential to success in this position as is creativity and innovation
