Job Description

The Coordinator of Catechesis assists the Director of the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis in providing Catechetical formation opportunities in the Diocese of Madison.

Essential Job Functions:
• Maintain Diocesan standards and expectations in the areas of Catechetical formation in parishes and schools.
• Support parishes in k-8 catechetical formation programs.
• Assist with management of Diocesan Catechetical Certification Program for catechists in the diocese.
• Assist in the development of Diocesan standards and expectations for adult Confirmation and RCIA Catechetical programs.
• Assist with the management of resources and recommended catechetical materials.
• Offer support, communication and training for parish priests and catechetical leaders.
• Maintain communication resources (website and newsletters)
• Assist parishes in the hiring process and development of catechetical leaders.
• Manage any other duties discerned or assigned by the Bishop of the Diocese of Madison.

• Ability to identify opportunities for improvement, evaluate issues and situations and propose and implement recommendations and solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently.
• Possess excellent communication skills, effectively writing and speaking in all settings, from large groups to one-on-one situations.
• Proficiency at a wide variety of computer programs, including the entire Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Canva). In addition, experience with development and use of web pages.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary and complete physically strenuous tasks as needed (Able to lift 30lbs).
• Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Required Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree Theology or related field, Master's preferred. Commensurate experience may be considered.
• 5+ years of related experience in parish, ministry or apostolate setting.

Normal Workdays & Hours:
• Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
• Frequent travel to all the parishes and schools in the diocese (3-5 times monthly)
• Travel to other diocesan locations in the state (1-2 times yearly)
