Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Disaster Relief Case Manager will provide comprehensive case management services to individuals and families affected by natural disasters. This position is responsible for delivering a wide range of disaster relief services, including managing points of distribution, conducting client assessments, distributing financial assistance, developing long-term recovery plans, and participating in preparedness activities. The Disaster Relief Case Manager plays a crucial role in guiding families through the recovery process, helping them access necessary resources, and advocating for their needs in collaboration with other service providers. This position reports to the Director of Programs and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide culturally competent services to individuals and families affected by natural disasters
• Lead canvassing teams in door-to-door outreach and abbreviated client intakes
• Coordinate and operate Points of Distribution (POD) during disaster responses, including intakes addressing immediate needs
• Conduct comprehensive family assessments focusing on strengths, needs, and opportunities
• Collaborate with clients to develop disaster recovery goals and personalized recovery plans
• Empower clients to take active roles in their recovery journey through ongoing review and adjustment of recovery plans
• Facilitate connections to community resources, providing referrals to other agencies as needed
• Advocate for clients' access to linguistically and culturally appropriate services
• Network with community organizations to ensure coordinated disaster relief without duplication of services or benefits
• Actively participate in long-term recovery groups and coalitions, where applicable
• Provide disaster preparedness and case management training to staff and community members
• Maintain detailed and accurate client records in accordance with agency policies and funding requirements
• Collect and report data for program evaluation and improvement
• Prepare and submit grant reports as required
• Represent CCETN at agency, staff, and community meetings, as determined by the supervisor
• Engage in community disaster preparedness activities and outreach efforts
• Perform other responsibilities related to disaster case management or as assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements:

• Must be able to move objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Flexible work hours necessary to meet the community needs
• Must hold a valid driver license and maintain a clean driving record
• Must pass all background screenings
• Must work independently and be self-motivated
• Must maintain any training and certification requirements
• Must support the teachings of the Catholic Church and embody our organization's mission and culture through behavior and daily interactions

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services Field required
• Experience working in disaster recovery and disaster case management preferred
• Fluent in Spanish and English (oral and written communications) preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide diversity of people from different ethnic backgrounds
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Proven computer skills including Word, Excel, and other appropriate applications
