Job Description

Catholic Academy or Parish School Principal:

Candidates must be practicing Roman Catholics, committed to the mission of Catholic education who possess:

• New York State certification in School Administration and Supervision or the equivalent.
• A master's degree conferred by a college or university registered by the New York State Board of Regents or accredited by an appropriate regional accrediting agency.
• An Initial Certificate of Faith Formation or be eligible to begin such certification upon employment.
• A minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in a Catholic, private or public school setting.

Job Description:
The principal as spiritual and academic leader collaborates with all stakeholders to develop, articulate, and implement the mission of the school fostering a strong Catholic identity.
As the school leader, the principal will
• Develop, advocate, and enact a shared mission and vision which fosters a high-quality education, academic success and the well-being of each student.
• Collaborate with parish clergy and academy faculty to foster a strong Catholic identity through the Academy's mission.
• Collaborate with the board of directors, specifically with the board chair, to continually improve the educational experiences of the students and work environment of the faculty.
• Strive for equity of educational opportunity and culturally responsive practices to promote each student's academic success and well-being.
• Develop and support intellectually rigorous and coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, and the assessment to promote each student's academic success and well-being.
• Cultivate an inclusive, caring, and supportive school community that promotes the academic success and well-being of students and all stakeholders.
• Foster a professional community of teachers and other professional staff to promote each student's academic success and well-being.
• Engage families and the community in meaningful, reciprocal, and mutually beneficial ways to promote each student's academic success and well-being.
• Manage school operations and resources to ensure a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for all stakeholders while also ensuring the Academy's long-term financial sustainability.
• Act as an agent of continuous improvement to promote the Academy's success and that of each student in our care.
