Job DescriptionTITLE: Director of Student Support (Full-Time)
ENTITY: Shared position between Notre Dame Parish School and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Academy, Denver, Colorado - Archdiocese of Denver
REPORTS TO: School Principal
THE POSITION: The Director of Student Support (DSS) is a qualified professional educator who meets the requirements to teach in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Denver. The Director of Student Support is hired by and directly accountable to the principal. The DSS is expected to abide by the policies and procedures of the local school, the Archdiocese of Denver, and the Office of Catholic Schools. The DSS cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education.
The Director of Student Support will play a crucial role in ensuring that students with diverse learning needs receive appropriate support and accommodations to achieve their full potential within our Catholic school community. This position requires a strong understanding of inclusive practices, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to Catholic education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities:
• Individualized Catholic Education Plan (ICLP) and 504 Plan Management:
o Coordinate the development, implementation, and monitoring of ICLPs and 504 plans.
o Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student accommodations and progress.
• Collaboration and Communication:
o Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external service providers to develop and implement effective inclusion strategies.
o Collaborate with the Office of Catholic Schools Department of Student Support Services around coaching, training, and transitions
o Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community resources.
o Facilitate regular communication and meetings with stakeholders.
o Provide training and support to faculty and staff on inclusive practices and strategies.
• Student Support:
o Provide direct support to students with diverse learning needs, as needed.
o Assist teachers in implementing accommodations and modifications in the classroom.
o Monitor student progress and adjust support strategies as needed.
o Coordinate and oversee any paraprofessional support.
• Program Development and Evaluation:
o Evaluate the effectiveness of the school's inclusion program and recommend improvements.
o Develop and implement professional development opportunities for faculty and staff on inclusive education.
o Stay current on best practices in inclusive education and special education.
o Work with administration to develop and implement school wide inclusive practices.
• Catholic Identity:
o Integrate Catholic values and teachings into the inclusion program.
o Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that reflects the school's mission.
o Ensure that all students are able to fully participate in the religious life of the school.
o Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
o Perform teaching duties and all other duties as assigned by the school principal.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field (Master's preferred).
• Valid teaching license or certification in special education (preferred).
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs in an educational setting.
• Strong understanding of IEPs, 504 plans, and special education law.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of Notre Dame Catholic School
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in educational technology and data management.
COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043);
Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals;
Effective supervisory skills;
Effective listening and verbal communication skills;
Must have the necessary background and training in education methods and subject areas;
Must have an understanding of child development skills in order to relate to the students being taught;
Must have appropriate control and discipline techniques to successfully manage a classroom;
Must work cooperatively with school staff and administration;
Sound judgment and decision-making skills;
Knowledge of and willingness to implement safety and emergency procedures;
Positive references and recommendations;
Successfully pass a criminal background check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires lifting up to 40 pounds and carrying up to 40 pounds.
Ability to execute appropriate safety and emergency procedures, including leading evacuations and providing basic first aid.
