Job Description
Position OverviewUnder the direction and supervision of the Principal of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy, the Assistant Principal serves as a key administrative leader in fostering the school's mission, vision, and Catholic identity. This is a full-time position with minimal to no teaching responsibilities. The position is scheduled to begin in Summer 2025.
This will be a second Assistant Principal position, working closely with the Principal, the existing Assistant Principal, the Faculty, Aides, Content Learning Center Teacher and the office staff to support the school's overall operations and initiatives.
Work Schedule
Monday - Thursday: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Friday: 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Evening Weekend Events: Attendance at various nighttime and weekend events as required
Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Principal will have a specific focus on curriculum development, special education coordination, school operations, and data systems management. Primary responsibilities include:
Faith and Mission Leadership
Actively promote and model the school's Catholic identity through personal witness, prayer, and participation in liturgical and spiritual activities.
Support the integration of Catholic values, teachings, and traditions across the curriculum and school programs.
Collaborate with the Principal and Assistant Principal to foster a culture of faith formation and service.
Encourage and support student participation in religious events, retreats, and service projects.
Curriculum and Instruction
Collaborate with faculty and administration to develop, implement, and review academic curriculum across all grade levels.
Ensure curriculum alignment with New York State learning standards and Catholic values.
Support the integration of instructional technology and innovative teaching strategies.
Use student performance data to inform instructional planning and academic interventions.
Facilitate faculty professional development, promoting continuous learning and instructional excellence.
Support the effectiveness of curriculum and instruction through observations, feedback, and coaching of classroom teachers.
Operations and Logistics
Assist with school-wide scheduling, including daily schedules, testing schedules, and special events.
Manage student transportation and coordinate with bus services for safe and efficient travel.
Assist in the coordination and supervision of after-school programs and extracurricular activities.
Maintain and update student information systems and school data platforms.
Admissions and Enrollment
Assist in student admissions, including open houses, application review, and interviews.
Collaborate on enrollment strategy, marketing, and communications with prospective families.
Work with the office staff to manage student records and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Student Support and Special Education
Work closely with the Content Learning Center teacher to support students with special education needs and learning differences.
Support classroom teachers in implementing inclusive practices and accommodations.
Collaboration and Leadership
Support the Principal and Assistant Principal in implementing school-wide initiatives and strategic goals.
Participate in faculty hiring, onboarding, and professional development.
Serve as a visible and approachable leader within the school community.
Assist in promoting a positive school culture rooted in Catholic identity and academic excellence.
Qualifications and Requirements
Practicing Catholic committed to the mission of Catholic education.
Master's degree in Education, Administration (preferred), or a related field.
Minimum of five years of teaching and/or administrative experience in a Catholic school setting.
Experience with curriculum design and student data analysis.
Familiarity with special education services and accommodations.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Proficiency in school information systems and technology tools for education.
