Job Description
Central Catholic High School is seeking a faithful, passionate, selfless, and resilient Wellness Counselor for the 2025-2026 school year. Applicants must be enthusiastic about the mission of Central Catholic High School. They should have the ability to assist and provide short term and cyclical support to students struggling with mental, emotional, and related behavioral concerns, while incorporating support through personal and spiritual growth. Applicants must also serve as liaison between home and school and provide parental education, as appropriate, regarding mental and behavioral health. The preferred candidate has an enthusiasm for working with youth, a strong understanding of social and emotional support, as well as external referral resources, and adheres to ethical standards of the counseling profession with a Catholic worldview. Assist students with documented mental, emotional, and related behavioral needs through individual, group, and family counseling services.
Utilize a trauma informed framework focused on individual student needs within counseling services.
Collaborate with caregivers to provide mental health education and referral sources.
Provide in-service education to school personnel on social-emotional topics, suicide prevention, and behavioral interventions.
Deliver suicide prevention education to students and families.
Driver of universal social emotional education and development for the student body in planning and executing House Community lessons.
Serve as a primary point of contact for students and families experiencing an acute mental health or behavioral crisis.
Implement and coordinate school-wide wellness counseling services and activities, including partnering with local agencies.
Manage data collection and recordkeeping to monitor mental, emotional, and related behavioral wellbeing of both individual students and overall student community.
Serve as the liaison between Central Catholic, students, and families involved in our "Seton Scholar" program.
Works with the Enrollment Team to determine acceptance and course placement for all incoming students based on identified mental health and behavior needs, supports, and concerns.
Participate in eligibility determination for Student Services, recommend appropriate mental health accommodations, and identify students who require intervention based on mental health impairments that may significantly disrupt the educational experience.
Work with administration, faculty, Guidance Counselors, and Student Services to provide support to students who are struggling with social and emotional acquisition into the school setting.
Participate in weekly Student Support meetings and monthly Leadership meetings.?
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Current Professional Educators License or Certificate with proper endorsement
Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
Knowledge of various assessment tools used for evaluation of student needs.
Knowledge of community resources regarding student and family support.
Ability to consult with staff regarding behavioral interventions and mental health diagnosis.
Ability to work cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, students, and families.
Qualifications
Type 73 Certificate preferred
LCPC (Therapist) or LCSW (Social Worker)
