SUMMARY: This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal regulations on protecting children placed in shelter facilities from sexual abuse and sexual harassment and developing and implementing training programs to meet regulatory requirements and professional needs of the program and agency

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Develop, implement, and oversee processes that ensure compliance with the Office of Refugee Resettlement's (ORR) policies on preventing sexual abuse and harassment of children in care.

Serve as primary point of contact for ORR's Prevention of Sexual Abuse (PSA) team

Implement best practices to ensure the safety and protection of children in care, not restricted to review of existing policies, training of staff and review of incident reports.

Assist Shelter Manager in ensuring health and mental health services are provided according to established ORR standards

Provide orientation to all new hires on PSA standards and requirements.

Complete and submit all required reports

Participate in ORR scheduled calls and meetings for PSA staff

Work closely with Human Resources on any staff-related incidents to ensure safety of children in the facility

Collect, maintain and share data with agency management and ORR on effective facility response methods to sexual abuse and harassment

Responsible for the timely training and onboarding of new hires in ORR funded programs

Coordinates, schedules and tracks staff training

Monitors ORR policy and procedural updates and disseminates information appropriately to staff

Serves as the department's Therapeutic Options of Virginia (TOVA) trainer.

Assists in the scheduling and delivery of standard trainings such as First Aid and CPR

Conducts regular trainings for staff on policies and other relevant topics

Attends scheduled training programs for professional development that includes at a minimum, trainings required by Commonwealth Catholic Charities, and by regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Promotes staff professional growth through established training requirements

Reviews documents and case records regularly for regulatory compliance and quality assurance

Identify opportunities to improve client care, quality, and effectiveness

Represents the Agency in the community and workplace in a professional and ethical manner.

Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral, and written skills.

Utilizes a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Sciences, Behavioral health fields or equivalent; At least one year experience working with child welfare standards, best practices and compliance and two years of training and staff development experience required Certification as a trainer for First Aid, CPR and TOVA de-escalation techniques preferred.
