Job Description

York Street Project's housing program seeks a Social Worker Supervisor with a background in psychosocial/clinical responsibilities. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable and skilled in working with vulnerable and at-risk populations, helping them stabilize their families and grow toward self-sufficiency and independence. This position requires a valid and current LMSW license. This is a full-time, onsite position located in Jersey City, NJ. The salary range is from $67,000 up to $75,000 per year. Overview:

-Supervisory responsibilities include assigning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling work for staff and social work interns; evaluating and managing performance; interviewing, hiring, and orienting new employees; training employees when necessary; making salary recommendations; and recommending coaching, discipline, or termination when necessary.
-Assessing the psycho-social status and needs of housing unstable families and their children
-Recruiting new families for housing programs and Participating in the interview and intake process
-Assisting in the development of individual service plans
-Carrying out social evaluations through individual therapy sessions and planning interventions based on the findings
-Maintaining clinical records on all participants
-Utilizing the internal database (Apricot) to maintain client documents
-Utilizing the national homeless database Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) to manage intakes and discharges
-Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with community agencies/partners that can supplement services to participants.
-Serves as liaison between participant and community agencies/partners
-Acts as support service team's point of contact for all specialty programming and services (i.e. mental health, behavioral health, substance use, domestic violence, child welfare, etc.)
-Provides information and referral services for community resources to participants
-Attending interdisciplinary group meetings; and attending and participating in community meetings.
-Actively participating in the planning and execution of activities and events that improve the quality of life and stabilization of families.
-Researching and keeping current with evidence-based therapeutic services, tools, and clinical models
-Supervising MSW interns (supervision, instruction, and assessment):
-Acts as point of contact with the School of Social Work department
-Possesses or willing to complete Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI)

Education:
-Master's Degree in Social Work
-Valid and current LMSW license in NJ
-Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) certified or willingness to complete
-Prior work with poor/minority groups, especially young women and children.
-Ability to practice on individual, family and group level.
-Able to analyze, assess and intervene on systemic level.
-Possess diagnostic and treatment skills.
-Theoretical appreciation and practice in family system model, -Comprehensive Youth Centered Service Model, Trauma Informed Care, Critical Time Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, and Strengths Based therapeutic models.
-Knowledgeable of Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)

Qualifications and Skills:
-Experience in supervising and managing staff.
-Able to analyze, assess and intervene on systemic level.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with case management or related software and databases is a plus!
-Ability to work with ethnic and racial minority groups, especially women and children.
-Commitment to establish a model of personal and institutional development that flows from values of inclusiveness and cooperation.
-Commitment to values of mutuality and collaboration.
-Valid driver's license preferred.
-Bilingual/Spanish preferred.
