Position Description
Job Title: Elementary School Principal
FLSA/Job Status: Exempt; Full-Time
Reporting Functions: Superintendent of Catholic Education
St. Anne School, in Bethlehem, PA (Grades Pre-K-8) is seeking a dynamic and innovative educational leader with a strong commitment to Catholic education and academic excellence, to serve as Principal. We are seeking a driven leader with the ability to promote the school's Catholic mission while overseeing teaching and learning, enrollment, development, facilities, and finance, as well as implementing policies and operational objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead, promote, and uphold the Catholic mission and identity of the school, ensuring that faith formation is integrated into all aspects of the school's curriculum and community life.
Develop and implement a strategic plan that addresses the school's academic, spiritual, and financial objectives, including the areas of enrollment, fundraising, and community engagement.
Serve as the primary instructional leader by supervising, mentoring, and evaluating faculty, fostering a collaborative culture that encourages professional development, innovation, and high standards of academic excellence.
Monitor and assess student performance data to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning and ensure that the school meets or exceeds academic standards.
Oversee the recruitment, selection, and retention of qualified faculty and staff, ensuring alignment with the school's mission and academic objectives.
Manage the school's budget and financial operations in collaboration with the pastor and finance committee, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and compliance with diocesan guidelines.
Promote a positive and inclusive school climate that reflects Catholic values and cultivates a sense of community and mutual respect among students, parents, faculty, and staff.
Lead efforts to enhance student enrollment through active engagement with prospective families, marketing initiatives, and collaboration with parish leadership and the broader community.
Oversee the maintenance and improvement of school facilities, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and conducive environment for learning.
Ensure compliance with diocesan, state, and federal policies and procedures, including all applicable safety regulations and Act 48 professional development requirements.
Any other duties assigned by the Superintendent and Pastor.
Additional Condition of Employment:
Candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, have a deep knowledge of the Catholic faith, and agree to live by the tenets of the Catholic faith, including in lifestyle and on personal social media.
Educational Requirements:
A Master's Degree in Education or School Administration;
Principal's certification strongly preferred. In lack thereof, a willingness to complete within a reasonable period of time is expected should the candidate require it.
5+ years of teaching experience; current teaching certification.
Other Requirements:
Demonstrate strong leadership skills in the areas of motivation, communication, organization, decision making, conflict prevention & resolution
Demonstrate ability to promote an environment that fosters high expectations of faculty, staff, and students in faith, academic excellence, and service.
Be a team leader who focuses on collaboration, and engagement of faculty, staff, pastor(s), and parents.
PRIOR TO INTERVIEW: Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (No less than 1 year old.) As well as attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and stoop. Must be able to talk and hear, both in person and by telephone. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by the means of spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
Working Conditions: Normal school setting, Full-time, 8:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.; Monday- Friday, 2025-2026; Contracted position. May be required to assist with special duties and work outside the normal school day to attend school-related events.
