Job Description

The Parish Child Protection Support Specialist will work with parishes to provide technical assistance and audit compliance with the Child Protection Policy of the Archdiocese of Boston and the Charter for the Protection of Youth and Minors for the USCCB. The position will report to the Director of Pastoral Support and Child Protection. This is a part-time position; 21 hours a week and you will need to work at the Pastoral Center in Braintree.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with assigned parishes to help them meet the Child Protection policies of the Archdiocese of Boston.
Develop working relationships with the Pastor and specified staff to help the parish manage the Child Protection protocols and properly track compliance.
Partner with the pastor and parish staff to find ways to strengthen child protection activities and/or share best practices with other parishes
Provide guidance and teaching through example with PGC and Empowering God's Children trainings in parishes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong understanding of the operations and challenges of a Catholic parish/collaborative.
Ability to communicate with clergy and parish staff in a manner that provides support and direction while also identifying any needed improvements.
Must be willing and able to travel to assigned parishes within an identified geographical area. Must have own transportation.
Ability to work as part of a small professional staff
Understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality of all information related directly or indirectly to job.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with diocesan parishes and schools, pastoral center offices.
Basic skills in Microsoft Office
High School Diploma required. Bachelor Degree or higher preferred
